The first one?

Not really.

He presided over the fall of the USSR and was President during a popular war. Other than puking on the Japanese PM (which was probably wildly popular in the other asian countries), he was generally seen as competent, if boring.

At the absolute very least, he was about as qualified for the job as any other person on the planet.  Congressman, was in the Navy, RNC chairman, CIA director, Vice President.  A pretty steep drop to today's 'He was on TV!!!!!!1'

The source said the Bushes had not previously announced the hospital visit because they did not want anyone to prematurely celebrate over the Easter weekend.

I had pneumonia once. I waited to long to go to the hospital and was really.messed up for a while. Could barely walk.

A year later I had a cough that got a bit worse and I started to feel shiatty, and the doctor said I had "a little bit of pneumonia". A few antibiotics.and I never even missed a day at work.

So, it varies a lot.

It's usually ALOT harder on the elderly, to the point that a significant number who contract it die from it. That Bush has beaten it several times is astounding.

How does one long to go to the hospital? I typically go there only as a last resort.

It's not THAT astounding.  Ex-presidents get taken care of pretty well.

Still, he's pretty lucky to still be alive.

You obviously have never been extremely sick and poor.  I've longed to go when I knew IV antibiotics would help but I knew the hospital bills after would kick my butt.   Also what would I do with the kid.  Just laid on the couch hoped for death.  My poor kid spent 5 days in a bassinet luckily I had the diaper bag within reach so she didn't starve or sit in het own feces...

How many years ago was it either Carvey or Farrell hosted SNL and the other was on as a guest. They did a Bush 1 and Bush 2 go on a hunting trip and we end up with the "Walking Dead look at the daisies" bit?

Before Trump, before the Tea Party, before Palin,, before Dubya... there was Dan Quayle. You can argue that GHWB helped set the Republican Party on its current trajectory.

You could. You'd be wrong, but you could.

The list of bad VPs is a long and impressive one. In part, that's because picking an abhorrent VP is political kevlar.

NO, there is only one person responsible for the shiat show that is the Republican Party and our Country, and that person is none other then the God-King, Saint Ronald Reagan.

Republicans today are the morons that think GHWB was a failure as a Republican because he raised taxes.  Guess what, he's the true "Conservative", not your fake shiatty God-King Reagan.

I'm sure the folks who died due to his bullshiat during Hurricane Andrew would agree - George H. W. Bush is, indeed, a "true conservative."

Reagan raised taxes (the alternative minimum tax was signed by him). He also negotiated with terrorists and supported giving amnesty to illegals. Maybe Donald should start bad mouthing the low energy attempt at Presidenting.

GHWB did a lot of things I disagree with, but I haven't heard about what happened with Hurricane Andrew, and there's not much about it on Wikipedia.  Can you provide a link?
