Fun story: there is a growing body of literary evidence suggesting that the development of Christianity was just another application of the mystery faith model, like Zoroastrianism, on the local religion (Judaism). Check out the works of Richard Carrier and Robert Price for some of this. It is an interesting read.

Well 2AM is a popular closing time for bars.  Patrons are looking to continue their good times and stores are closed.  After-hours needs liquor too!

For all these people. Yes is seems odd, but some countries don't follow the given name, surname/family name bit, and in this case have only a given name.  When they immigrate into the US they often duplicate their first name rather than pull something new from their asses. It is, after all, the name their parents gave them.

Zoroastrianism never really struck me as the mystery cult type of faith.  That's more Mithraism, or the Greek ones where you'd get inducted into the cult by attending double-secret ultra-undercover rituals that you weren't supposed to blab about later.

Zoroastrianism has a holy text...not a word of mouth thing, so it's less mysterious and more rigid.

And on the topic of TFA, this guy sounds like a really shiatty Muslim, slinging alcohol and pills.  Then punching folks on top of that?  Allah isn't going to be pleased.

I teach students from Saudi Arabia. I don't remember all the exact rules, but I have had students named Naser AlNaser, Abdullah AlAbdullah, Qasem AlQasem. There's a naming rule procedure that involves grandfathers, fathers, and a whole list of names for first born sons. They explained that you can go back "1000 years" in names if you just keep following the naming scheme and that technically their names pretty much go on forever. (Note: 100 or 1000 years basically means "a long time" or "a really long time"). I'm sure I'm screwing this up because I asked a decade or so ago and haven't gone back and gotten the explanation again.
