Well, at least it's proof that testing is random and not done based on suspicious increases in performance.

Our two best players gone due to stupidity. And Cutch will probably be gone by the All-Star break. Another lost season.

I am betting that a lot of the biggest juicers are the borderline players. The people that need that little bit texts to make the show and stay there vs being career AAA players. That is where there is the greatest incentive.

That and the minimum MLB salary of $535,000.

That would be the "greatest incentive" that reward borderline career triple A players more than others.

Nutting probably dosed him so he wouldn't have to pay him.

Rumor has it he was playing hurt, and taking the drugs to try and hang in there.

So no loss, in the grand scheme, but it still farking hurts.

Apparently he's not watching hockey, then.

Damn, we used to players who juiced and actually performed.

/ It's widely acknowledged that Pittsburgh, while not necessarily inventing 'roids, damn near perfected the use with the Steelers in the 80s

Err, why are people talking about "marginal players" and "not performed"? Marte is a two-time gold glove outfielder who was the best hitter on the team last year.

People still think that if you use steroids, you will look like Barry Bonds circa 2003.

The truth is, that many "normal" looking guys use steroids. At your local gym, there's plenty of normal looking guys that are using steroids. Pro athletes use steroids not just for size/strength, but for recovery. In fact, that is normally why guys use steroids; quicker recovery = more training = perform better.

The drug he tested positive for, nandrolone, was almost certainly taken unintentionally. He's not going to get off as a result, but basically no one at all takes that who is subject to testing ever because it stays in your body for so long. I can absolutely believe "neglect and lack of knowledge" here. He was probably taking god knows what "supplement" purchased from god knows where that was either tainted during manufacture or, surprise, incorrectly labeled.

Maybe he should make a website for it XD

Why do people continue to issue statements that sound like they were written by the same PR bot? It's so obvious that the person never said anything like those words.

If it were me, I'd give an honest statement that I came up with myself. Baseball fans incredibly forgiving when people are sincere, and extremely vindictive against liars.

Meets or Exceeds Expectations: Baseball fans incredibly forgiving when people are sincere

No they aren't. Everyone spent years saying "man why doesn't Mark McGwire just apologize" and he did, for real, and everyone was still like "nah fark him"

Although I guess you could say they are incredibly forgiving for dudes who hit, or worse, women...

Yes, really.  Believe it or not, guys like Bonds, McGuire, and Sosa really were special talents.

Touche'.  He is.... I well-wished him hockey, even though i personally don't follow it.
I'm a Cleveland fan, but I respect Pittsburgh sports fandom, and greatly respect the Rooney family.

I think a lot depends on the personality. Bonds and Sosa were kind of dicks, so they didn't get a pass. McGwire didn't because he was such a douche about lying about it. But then guys like Ortiz, Pettite and Pudge got passes.
