Well he probably would only play for one season and then go pro, but the Dukies could use him.

Basketball is big in China?
Who knew.

Duke Sucks.

He'll make more money at Duke anyway...

We politely said thanks but no thanks. He's going to college...

Yeah, for one year. Take the money for a year or two, come back to the NBA.

Hey trollmitter, he's also thinking about going to UNC, FSU, Mizzou and (OMG) UK.   It sounds like his old man is insisting on at least an educated start to his career.

With $1.4 million, even after taxes, you'd still have enough that you could put it in a CD ladder and easily pay for college with that.

Take $200k of that, put it in a 5-year CD ladder of $40k each. That'd be plenty to live off in college

Turn down $1.4-million to play in China or wait 1 year and make $5-million in the NBA.

Why not collect both?

Yeah, while the money is good, it's tough to send a 17-year-old to China for a year to play with grown men. Not too many teens already for that opportunity.

Or get paid $1.4 million to play in China then next year make $5 million in the NBA.

How many people have successfully skipped their freshman season to play overseas and then come back and get drafted?

It's a gamble... sure.  But how many kids have gone to college, been injured and never made a dime from their talent?

Hence the insurance policy.

Last year, 8 in the first round and 8 in the second.

Yeah, but Fujian BBQ is better than NC BBQ.

China also has a KHL hockey team.  Hockey isn't at big there, but they're in the other cool hockey league.

NC uses sauce in BBQ.  Fails by default.  Invalid argument.

And yet people still complain the NCAA is slavery.  We've just established that an NCAA scholarship is worth at least $1 million.
