Ouch. That ankle bro. :P

I got hit four times in one game, and all in the same spot. Funny how MLB.com didn't cover that game just because it was a JV game and the internet wasn't really a thing back then. Bunch of racists.

Two of those pitchers who hit multiple guys in games     were Wilbur Wood, a knuckleballer who probably wasn't throwing at anybody, and Dock Ellis, who purposely tried to hit every Reds hitter he faced one day in 1975 to prove to his teammates that he wasn't afraid of them.
Sometimes guys get thrown at because they are complete dicks.

I was going to comment that Harrison looks like he bends his knee in a way that would lead to a lot of glancing HBP, but in previous seasons he's only been hit 5-7 times. The league leader is usually in the 20-30 range.

He seems like he lines up as far inside as he can go and really far forward. Might be part of why he's getting tagged so often.

When I was in little league I once got hit on the finger with a fastball while I was checking my swing. I collapsed in pain at the plate and meanwhile the ump called the ball fair, as the ball rolled towards the pitcher. I have been furious about this ever since. Either the ball hit my finger and then the bat, in which case it would be a HBP, or it hit the bat and then my finger, in which case it would be a foul ball. There's no scenario where it hits my finger and it's a fair ball. And if the ump thinks it didn't hit my finger, why am I on the ground bawling and clutching my finger, you jerk-ass idiot ump?!

I know nobody cares about that story but I am going to keep telling it until that play gets reviewed and I am awarded first base, gaddammit.

If you were swinging the bat or bunting without checking your swing then it was a live ball in play. As long as you're swinging the bat the hands are part of the bat.

My swing was definitely checked.

You have been added to my list.

PLEASE NOT THE LIST!!!!
Don't I get credit for caring about your story?

But maybe I didn't check my swing enough. Maybe I am the one in the wrong. Maybe I should let this long-carried grudge go. Release my bitterness. Move on.

NAH. Fark that ump.

He's working on improving his OBP.

And now Starling Marte has been suspended 80 games for PEDs.

/This kills the Pirates' season.

I feel your pain, only in my case it was a high inside fastball that came in as I was squaring off to bunt. Watched my two front teeth fall out onto the dish. Everybody was so shook up that after I was escorted off the field to the ambulance, they sent another player in to "complete" my AB. WTF??? I was HBP!!! But no, he struck out.  And this was in high school!  Was no one thinking?

Maybe we should start up a support group.
