I think this this animal is just now being found by science even though it lives in shallow ocean bays is because it doesn't taste good.  It's main nutrition comes from bacteria in it's body that eats sulfur ick.  Imagine rotten eggs times ten.

It's a complex structure. Only a tiny portion of is visible. The rest extends back and, until recently, nobody actually knew that the interior parts existed. In fact, even though there was plenty of evidence for its existence throughout history, some ignorant people have insisted that the entire thing was a myth. It's good to see science catching up.
