In the meantime, he euthanizes them and sells their meat as a delicacy.

Daryl Hannah has not aged well.

Sounds like this isn't the issue if they're being compared to squirrels.

Now that I've read the article I realize they have the reptile version of the nutria rat on their hands

Well, you know a great way to curb an animal population is by adding it to the average diet

You're not making Florida sound LESS awesome by describing iguanas as so commonplace that people consider them reptilian squirrels. Because that sounds farking rad to me. I bet cats love to eat them.

We just had the little garden lizards that ate beetles and bugs when I grew up there. The cat definitely loved eating them.

But you'll never get a seat beside the pool again, because they're lounge lizards

I kind of miss seeing iguanas sunning along 441. Now I just get rat snakes and the occasional rattler. Boring midland Florida.

Iguanas are much larger that the regular anole lizard here in Florida.  And do not take shiat.

Especially when they are riding pit bulls.

This reminds me of my large iguana. She likes to climb on my bed when she thinks I'm not looking.

I had one as a pet. He was about four feet long when we found out our boxer puppy was a carnivore.
Wall of Voodoo had a song about them in 1983.
I wish I was in Tiajuana
Eating barbequed iguana
I'd take requests on the telephone
I'm on a wavelength far from home
I feel a hot wind on my shoulder
I dial it in from south of the border

It takes them years to get that big. They are quite cat munchable sized for the first few.

Start a rumor among the wealthy old Chinese fellows that iguana brains give you six hours of super boner!

Little bastards would be wiped out in a year.

Damn you. I was all set to use that. 😭 Now I'm feeling a bit peckish. I wish I had an iguana  and a BBQ. I do have my cute little Yorkie and a microwave.😋 I forgive you for stealing my song.

mmm.....bamboo chicken.

thought they all died off a few years ago when south florida got a severe cold snap. they were literally falling out of the trees. glad to see they made a come back.

/used to have one in our backyard that was 6 feet long head to to tail.
//we had an orange cat named van gogh that used to stalk it regularly but never dared to engage it.
///the cat came back missing an ear one day....

Is this story on Drew's calendar for annual green lighting?

Anyway, as there hasn't been a freeze in Central or South Florida for 3 or 4 years, so the Iguanas have been hard to catch.  They usually round them up on cold days when they start falling out of the trees.

What a bass-ackwards headline. Shouldn't it be "sprawling suburban humans move into iguana village, and ruin the neighborhood"?
