Could it have more to do with most people knowing what the NBA Finals will be the majority of the time before the playoffs start?

The NBA is very predictable until the Finals, then they let what ever crooked ref has seniority run the show.

No, it's because other sites have better NBA message boards.

For whatever reasons, the NBA has never been big on forums. It's not just Fark. For starters, there's not much down time compared to other sports. Very few want to post to a forum during a game. You'll miss too much. Other sports have plenty of down time. It could also be in part that mostly white people follow hoops online, but it's certainly not just Fark.

That said, I think Javale McGee is going to play a big part in the playoffs. He only played about 10 minutes yesterday and he had a huge impact on the game. Take that, Shaq.

He's been contributing some fantastic minutes for the Warriors so far this season. Cavs came close to blowing a huge fourth quarter lead again, what is going on with them?

Eh I don't know, the team specific nba board I post on gets plenty of action, as does r/nba.

I do think this site skewing white middle aged male has something to do with it. Especially when you consider how much action hockey and wrestling (wtf) get on this site.

They suck at defense.

My team specific site is very active during games (and after). Realgm, for a general example, is very active. Fark is, amazingly, not the world.

In fairness, there haven't been other NBA threads, why would anyone assume these existed?

It's weird. I live in Maine but until UMaine hockey came to prominence (now in submission) in the early 90s nobody gave a shiat about hockey here. For the most part we still don't care about the Bruins. I'm an old guy so maybe youngsters are into them, but growing up in the late 60s/70s hardly anyone played hockey. Just a theory I have but if you didn't play it as a kid you aren't gonna give a damn about it as an adult.
