Are you troubled by strange noises in the night? Do you experience feelings of dread in your basement or attic? Have you or your family actually seen a spook, specter or ghost? If the answer is yes, then don't wait another minute. Just pick up the phone and call the professionals.

The NSA is less "Exorcist" and more "Crawlspace".

BTW, the ATT building in Manhattan is the only building in Manhattan which is know to have been designed and built to withstand a nuclear blast.

The NSA doesn't have to spy on AT&T - AT&T has already been cowed by federal intimidation, so they simply send the NSA their data without warrants. Idiots.

2017-04-17 09:36:19 AM
It's NYC. Just charge the demons, specters, or spooks rent and move on with your day.
I'm sure that you can find stranger tenants.

The NSA only rents out some space there and if you cast out the daemons the servers will crash.

Half in seriousness, all in jest. It's a protest group that wanted to call attention to the fact that AT&T works hand-in-hand with the NSA. The amusing part is that they think that it's just AT&T.

It's a severe but impressive building to be sure.  But it's completely vulnerable to these mystical attacks without the old Bell System Illuminati talisman that used to adorn AT&T HQ.

Looks like they want to bring attention to NSA spying. Since people won't listen to logical people like Snowden, this is probably a good choice. High impact, the people making fools of themselves will be forgotten quickly and it keeps the issue in the news. Think of it like how only a Jester can tell the truth in front of a king...

CSB - sometimes the loons are a good thing.  Let's go back to the early 90's.  IT was still voodoo and they paid through the nose for anyone that knew what an IRQ setting was and how to manipulate it.  Our NT Administrator wanted specific walls torn down in the building so that evil spirits could be purged - which were causing outages in our IT infrastructure.  When management refused, he quit.  Since I was a low level contractor that could pronounce NT 3.51, they assumed I was the best candidate for the job.  So I went from $12/hr grunt work to $80k/yr Sysadmin in one day and all because crazy.

Fun fact about Golden Boy (that is the real name of the statue).  Back in the 70s/80s AT&T wanted to relocate HQ to NJ for tax reasons.  But Koch (I think?) came up with some incentives such that they maintained HQ at 550 Madison Ave. on paper, but effectively moved HQ to Basking Ridge, NJ (where my family is from).  Eventually, Golden Boy was moved to NJ.

Well, the nice simple folks of Basking Ridge had a little problem with Golden Boy's...assets.  So they demanded his manhood be shaved down.

So I guess he will always remain a Golden "Boy", unless SBC enhanced him when they moved him once again to Texas after acquisition.  Everything's supposed to be bigger there, right?

The FBI and NSA tap all phone lines and internet from every AT&T building; welcome to the 1970s.

The only thing bigger in Texass are the assholes. Crusty, dingleberry-covered assholes with a yeast infection.

Back when the 'Baby Bells' still played by AT&T's rule book, there were no service interruptions ever, shy of a catastrophic system failure; cause an outage? You just wrote a 1 - 3 million dollar check to AT&T and would probably never work in a CO again. But these SBC farktards? Now they don't give a flying fark!! They clock out at 5:01 PM and outages be damned until 8:25 AM. No weekends either; that's not the CWA talking, that's just how sorry and lazy these mother farkers are! Hospital has a complete outage of phone/data because of a mystery line cut? Oh well, we'll worry about it the next day. AT&T CAUSED the outage? Pfffft, why would we adhere to a service window of 12 AM - 5 AM? We'll just do daylight cutovers and the hospital be damned! Got copper lines? Not anymore: we'll just cause incessant outages for you during prime hours and then a month later call and say "Gee, wouldn't it be nice if you had fiber instead? Sure would be terrible if you had another... cable cut."

I swear to God this happens. It has happened to two Texas hospitals in neighboring cities where I work. You know how long it takes to unplug a fiber at the punch board and move it over to a new panel? Yeah, we still have outages daily, and they last exactly that long.

fark AT&T. SBC.

deadsanta: Is this the windowless switching station building on Thomas Street? That thing looks like the most ominous place in manhattan. Just a windowless monolith and screens for the AC stacks.

Almost all AT&T buildings have had the windows bricked up in them since the 80s. Something about alleged "security" that was reinforced by McVeigh's little blowup and then 9-11. Doesn't matter: all you need to know is where the cable hubs are and sever all of those at the same time. There's a few key locations where you could do some real damage to the East Coast before the redundancies kick in.

The power rooms in those windowless offices are godlessly hot and miserable; they deliberately keep the humidity up to try and minimize ESD damage, and the rectifier plants and over-stressed copper DC cables put out major heat. Even the new shoebox-sized rectifiers put out heat like you wouldn't believe. Doing a DC power plant job in any Bell office is like working in the Everglades at high noon in July. Good thing that sweaty skin can't conduct DC *BZZZZZP* oh wait nevermind.

You know what I've never understood about the tin foil hat brigade?  WHY would you ever use tine foil to try to block the mind control brain chip signals?  As anyone who has ever owned an old portable AM/FM radio, or an old rabbit ear antenna for a TV knows, if you have crappy reception, what's the very first thing you do?  You wrap your antenna in a wad of tin foil!  Can't these people see they're just helping the mind control process along with those hats?  It just doesn't make any sense until you realize that Big Tin Foil is controlled by the Rigellians and so are in on The Conspiracy.  Big Tin Foils wants you to wear the hats.  They all do!  Can't you sheeple see?  It's so obvious!
