That was my second thought. My first was "did the resulting explosion happen to take out pudgy Kim?"

It would have had to been the Chinese instead for two reasons

1. China controls all Internet in and out from NK. It would be hard, but not impossible, for the US to be able to find them on the Internet
2. NSA tools all attempt to fool everyone into thinking the Chinese is hacking them instead of the NSA

Embedded firmware in the processors. NK does not have the ability to produce all the parts needed to make a middle. Variant of joke played on Iran.

Great if they did.

Great if they didn't but the rumors are out there. The paranoid Hungry One will soon start executing more generals and create more discord in the military which is all good from the outsider point of view.

Everyone made that joke when Trump said "cybering".

Its more an observation, like when I read "Cyber attack" I can't help but picture something like the chat logs of the guy who wanted to role play a rhino.  stampa stampa, indeed.

Color me skeptical.  Are these systems connected to the interturbes in any way?  I doubt it.  Might as well try to launch a "cyber-attack" against my washing machine, there's just no mechanism that would allow that.

Until I get my new Google Wash(TM) that is.

Trump will be bigly pissed off if that was the case.

I can't get past the feeling that we've got an extensive classified space-based missile defense system, and we're just using North Korea for geopolitical means knowing fully well their tech has no actual chance...

//thought the cyberwarfare program is still very good too...

It wasn't the US, because if it was, Trump would be taking full credit for it.  No one knows more about "the cyber" than Donald Trump.  Except maybe his retarded son, Marquis.

See previous comments in this thread. NK doesn't have the infrastructure to machine their own microprocessors. So a set of microprocessors destined for Korea has some embedded firmware which just happens to trigger under certain circumstances. It's more old school sabotage than cyber attack, but you can't expect mainstream news outlets to be able to make the distinction.

Well what if the NSA used their tools to look like it was Chinese attempting to look like the NSA?

That certainly is possible and fair point, the news media has shown itself time and time again to not even have a cursory understanding of any sciences.

Mar-a-Lago.

No. The Norks suck at this.

I figured they just accidentally tried to launch one of the paper mache rockets by accident. If the frightened people being forced to watch the parades can't tell the difference, how can you expect the scientists and weapons manufacturers to be able to?

Was too distracted by the other Telegraph story about the cruelty and bullying by a Remain magazine making fun of English people in seaside Skegness. Mocking and offending the good people with sneering contempt, connecting spots on face-eating Leopard.

Has anyone thought of doing an airstrike with a squad of A10s, and just blow up one of those weapons parades?  I'm not saying it would be the best idea, but it sure would shake things up, a lot.

I don't see a downside to it. If all of the military is in a parade, then there's no one to fire on SK, and it would send a clear message of sit the fark down to NK.

Dunno about that. Any senior officials with half-a-brain who could whisper "That might not be a good idea" when Kim gets a hankering for war could be purged.

It could be like the Stuxnet attack on Iran where malware was designed specifically for a particular hardware (which Iran happened to be using) and then distributed in a way so that they acquired it. North Korea has their own OS for their computers (Red Star OS), which is based on Linux. And since USB-trading is very popular in North Korea (for pirated and black market movies and music), it's not hard to believe that the US agencies could take advantage of that to infect them with malware
