I'm sure he is sitting around begging to set off a "god damn nuke. Just one." I'm 99.9% sure hats why they dropped the MOAB, because it was the next closest thing and it probably gave him a stiffie seeing the thing go off.

I'm not a big fan of starting WWIII but this is a baby that needs drowned in the bathtub, soon.   Yes, I do know what an impossibly bad cluster fark will come from doing it but what choice do we have?

What exactly do we do if we wake up in 10 years and find they have 50-100 reliable ICBMS topped with reliable nukes?   Having best Korea tell us to go get our shine box everyt day for the rest of eternity if we don't want do be a sheet of glass doesn't seem to be a workable plan.

Seoul is within distance of traditional artillery that the North has plenty of and that work just fine, so if they were so inclined, yea, they could kill lots and lots of south koreans,

And once they figure it out, they're still zero threat to us.  Any missile they launch will have a standard ballistic trajectory.  We'll knock into down in a matter of minutes, it will get no where near us, and at worst they'll drop a dirty 10 kiloton explosion into the far west Pacific, pissing off China and Japan.  And former will deal with them.

They have little idea what they're doing, and aren't any more of an existential threat to us than a ant hill.

On the other hand, an invasion or offensive strike from us will affirmatively piss off the entire region - at us.  I'd far prefer North Korea make their move, watch it fall apart, and then get plastered.  Let's not encourage Trump to make them the victims.

And most of Best Korea's weapons have a range less than that. Of the weapons that have the ability to reach Seoul, estimates are that 25% would fail, either in launch, targeting or detonation. Of those that actually managed to be threat to Seoul, most would be shot down by the large number of Patriot missiles protecting the city.

In the end, the death toll would be minimal.

I can just imagine Lil' Kim sitting in the control room with his finger on the red button, cackling like a madman as his rocket lifts from the pad.  He pauses and opens his eyes as the room is flooded with a burst of orange light, and watches the fireball bloom.  He points a short, fat finger at one of the gaunt-faced engineers in the room.

"Hey, was the warhead armed?"

"Yes, Dear Leader."

At that moment, someone's phone begins to ring.  The ringtone is We'll Meet Again.

A missile flying 620 miles and one that can hit a target 620 miles away are not the same thing.

Putting rocket-assisted shells in a Koksan doesn't make them surface-to-surface missiles. But sure. Have it your way. Stop half a million of those coming through in an hour.

They could not get a submarine out of drydock without us hearing, following it, tagging it's signature, and laughing at it.  The only way they could sneak a nuke into the usa is on a cargo ship or a commercial airliner.  Neither of which would make it another inch after all our radiation detectors started going off after arrival.

We will only have a nuke go off from North Korea in a major metropolitan city of the United States if our leaders decide they want it to go off.

And THAT should keep you up at night.  Because a NK nuke detonating in NY or along the west coast would solve a lot of farking problems for the Trump administration.  Actually it would solve all their problems at once.

Just back from dinner at in laws. They are both mad at Trump for not nuking North Korea yet. When i bring up that South Korea would be affected as well they said, well they can move where there wont be nuclear fallout. No one is telling them to stay there. All it would take would be a convenient theft of a Russian sub that they had left running with the keys in it while everyone was on leave. And Putin would do it if he thought it would tie up the US military long enough for him to do what he wants.
