Saw it in IMAX yesterday, and enjoyed the hell out of it.

It hit all the right buttons. When Dom went into reverse in the opening race, I knew I was in good hands.

This is still a thing?

Now I have to lower my opinion of humanity.

Again.

Yeah, that was good.  I think the part I loved the most was Jason Statham and the "little package" (trying not to spoil the fun) in the airplane.

My thoughts exactly. I keep thinking "Well, this is a new low!" and then humanity surprises me yet again.

They really nailed the casting there.

The prison riot was also so over-the-top great. When The Rock was taking rubber bullets without flinching, I was delighted.

If someone had told me after the first one came out that this would end up being one of the most profitable franchises of all time, I would've laughed at them.

Yup!

It's a franchise about family. It resonates because everyone can relate to having a family.

Well, good thing we're gonna nuke the planet.

/Now I'm imagining the cockroach version of The Fast and The Furious.

Silly movie.

2017-04-15 03:26:30 PM
This article is the first I've heard of a new fast and furious movie.  I guess all this targeted advertising stuff you hear about works well at not advertising to people who aren't interested.

2017-04-15 03:33:15 PM
The last one made me even dumber than I already am for watching it. I just can't afford to lose more brain cells so I'll skip the series from now on.

Cars go vroom, vroom. and then some guns are all like blam, blam. and then explosion. this movie best of all in world.

hoots_toot_ochaye: Jason Statham

Crap...I didn't know he was 49. Damn.

You can fool most of the people most of the time.

I stand corrected.

I instinctively hate this franchise, though I really shouldn't be so judgmental of it. It's no different than the MCU stuff I like. One is mindless action for car geeks, the other mindless action for comic geeks. Still...its existence and success makes me very sad.

Slap a Marvel logo at the front and the same people whining about F&F will trip over themselves talking about how good it is.

Actually from 5 on they're not car movies.  They're heist movies now.

Also if you suffer from insomnia watching Tokyo Drift will fix that right up.

Is this the second or third seal?

I'd watch a whole movie based around when Jason Statham, [spoiler], and [spoiler] are on the plane.

I'd comment in this thread, but I have to go see Fast 'n' Furious in 26 minutes

Just wait until Kirk Cameron does a Christian friendly version called Fast and the Faithful and it's only sponsor is Subway.

They've somewhat transitioned from heist films to international cyberthrillers where, for some reason, the entire counter-terrorism infrastructure is built around expensive cars.

And you know what?

There is not a thing wrong with that.

I'm quite enjoying how the entire series has subtly transitioned into full-on, damn the torpedoes (quite literally in this case) superhero movies.

It's essentially a remake of this.

Oh Fark. You never disappoint. A Fast and Furious thread always brings out the pretentious movie goers to shiat on the conversation.
Don't worry. One day your indie films will receive the worldwide acclaim they deserve. Of course, then they won't have the same appeal to people who say "I like film X. You've probably never seen it".

Well considering you just mentioned a certain character in a certain situation, you just unleashed a huge spoiler.

I watched one of them last night on TV. It wash't the worst thing I ever saw. It was a heist  movie with a lot of bald guys and a couple hot girls. There could be worse movies.

Imagine someone going into a coma in 2001 just after seeing the first one, then waking up now. Which would be more shocking, seeing how these films have morphed, or our current POTUS?

Watch in order, then go back and watch again. Somehow, the later movies (5 and on) make the early ones better.

The Bronies don't set international movie sales records.

I accidentally watched part of one of these back in the 00's and it turned me gay for a week.

So it's personal, I'm afraid.

There's over 7 billion people on this world! If you have a better idea to handle overpopulation, I'd like to hear it!

I can't imagine how stupid I'd have to become to get to a place where I would enjoy such a movie.
