They're also putting new pokestops in rural areas. I was pleasantly surprised to find one appeared right on top of my workspace a few days ago. As a rural, badly outnumbered Instinct player, this was a game changer for me. I actually have potions on hand now.

Out of (genuine) curiosity, I wonder how many people are still actively playing PoGo?  I know I lost interest last fall when it got cold and I didn't feel like walking around outside bundled up for hours.

Yet still no cure for the crashing problem, that's what stopped a lot of us from continuing to play.

After a lazy 5 minute google search all I can find is a Business Insider saying it has 60 million monthly active players as of March 17.

I don't make special trips for it but I will sometimes fire up the app when I'm out walking for other reasons.

That's a lot more than 1,217....

Hoping to hatch just one Dratini or Larvitar during this... I have a perfect 100% Dratini to evolve and I just need like 60 more candy. And only about 30 more to evolve a Larvitar....

I still play periodically, and when I go to the park to walk and play, there are still quite a few people out and doing so.

I do. In the warmer weather I choose to walk to work (almost 3 miles) rather than bus it so I can hatch my eggs. I also take the route that has the most Pokéstops.

I also have the good fortune of working at a place with 14 stops and a gym on grounds.

I still play casually.  The double XP has been the most important thing for me.  Im not spending real money to buy a slew of incubators to hatch 2km eggs that may rarely yield a 10km pokemon.  Bad thing is Id have to buy a bunch of incubators to clear out all the 5km eggs in my inventory just to hopefully get some 2km eggs from stop spins.  I should make 28 before the event is over because Im not really grinding.

/water event was great though got some new pokemons for my dex and a shiny magikarp.

I'm just glad we finally have gen 2 starters in eggs. They're usually really hard to find where I am right now, so I still don't have the evolutions of Chikorita or Cyndaquil. I've only got a Feraligatr because I happened to spend an afternoon at a nest (didn't know it was a nest; just thought I was going for a nice island bike ride...)

Ive got a feraligatr and a meganium.  Cyndaquil is rare for me.  I could use some of those hatches.  I did hatch a Tyrogue out a 5km today.  He'll evolve to a hitmontop.  Woo Hoo.

Yeah too bad Niantic won't do anything about spoofers and botters on either platform.

The near universal occupation of gyms in my area by cheaters made me stop playing PoGo. The near universal set of cheats regionally in Ingress takes away a lot of fun.

I'm dreading moving to the Unity engine, it will be a disaster.

I talked to a Niantic Employee at a November Lima event yesterday... (well, Thursday) he's played Ingress 2.0 on the Unity engine and says it actually runs a LOT better and won't be a disappointment

Electrify: Wait, they are releasing an Ingress 2.0?! Any info on it yet?

You'll see it next month. (The current framework dies in about 30 days)

Intel will be integrated, there will be significant new functionality, and the sponsorships will change. Not a whole lot of detail yet, but it is coming and soon. It has to. Licensing on the iOS version expires in the 2nd week of May and a piecework version just will not function, so we get a whole new scanner.

I've talked to people running the (very tightly controlled) beta, and they say it won't be a disappointment, but it will take some run up time.

I have been playing all day from my couch. Well, I have my guy walking a route to hatch eggs. GPS spoofing is cheaper than buying a buttload of incubators.

I actually have two accounts... my blue team main at level 34, and a red team alt at 28 I created so I could play with my brother in law. I got a $50 phone for the second account, so I don't have to switch back and forth.

On the alt account I'm having crazy good luck with eggs. I already evolved a 100% Tyranitar. The alt just happened to get a spate of Larvitar from 10k eggs, and now I just need to get one or two more so I can level him up (he's at 2726 cp currently). The alt also got a Dragonite first....... and then hatched enough dratinis to level the Dragonite to the critter cap for his level and still have over 100 candy towards evolving a second one. His bench isn't nearly as deep as my main though.

I still play. Had plans to go finish a machamp today, but the kid is sick. Hopefully we can get to the nest before the next migration. Pretty close to the bayleef evolution too.

Had two pokemon stay in gyms for the last two weeks straight. That was cool. One will have to be replaced tomorrow, and being Saturday, I wouldn't be surprised if the other is thrown out as well.

the_cnidarian: How do you guys collect so much stardust? Damn, the suburbs suck.

Occasional Pokestop runs for balls followed up by fun with stardust farming via PogoPlus (seriously, the Plus is pretty darn great as a way to lazily mine stops and/or catch com-mons for stardust).  And yes, even in suburban hell it is quite possible (especially if you've managed to get a large number of regular Pokeballs) to farm over 100K of stardust from the usual Pidgey/Ratatta/Sentret/Hoothoot/Paras/Spinarak spawns.

(Admittedly the last two and Venonats are disturbingly common in my neck of the woods, thanks to my area being a grass/bug biome in particular.  Fire and rock types tend to be the hard ones to find in this part of the country...)

Silph Road's nest DB is also useful as hell for finding out reports of what is spawning where (in general the nests do rotate every two weeks--probably the next nest rotation is next Wednesday--and especially if there's a particular 'mon species I may be looking out for due to special event or trying to get that last bit of candy for evolution it's a bit of a lifesaver).  It is crowdsourced (not using scanners) but there's a large enough community that it actually IS fairly accurate and kept up-to-date.

./a little less on gyms unless I can find some that aren't botted to hell, but I also tend to enjoy making a living Pokedex :D

the_cnidarian: How do you guys collect so much stardust? Damn, the suburbs suck.

Well, that's on the second account. The second time around you use it a LOT more judiciously. I only use stardust on the very best few critters, and I waited until I was fairly high level, something like level 25 or 26, before I even bothered powering any up at all. So the stardust just piled up from all the eggs I hatched, and everything I caught.

Also, I know it's totally not kosher to reccomend a subreddit on Fark, but r/TheSilphRoad is awesome for Pokemon Go info.

Yup, finally (FINALLY) got a Miltank out of a 2K yesterday, pretty much (as others noted) for the Easter event distribution changed where damn near anything can pop out of a 2K :D

And thirding the /r/TheSilphRoad recommendation :3  (Literally this is really the only reason I have a Reddit account, but I do keep one for that and access to SL's nest DB so I can check and occasionally verify nests.)
