Every time I see an old music video from the 50s and 60s I wonder "where is that guitar now?  It's worth a small fortune."

I know that feeling.  It's usually coupled with a very wishful "Someday I'll find one at a yard sale".

We saw Loretta Lynn a couple of years ago as part of our "See Living Legends Before They Die" tour.  She was wearing a huge, ruffled, silvery blue prom dress and sounded really good.  She only performed for maybe half the show when her daughters or granddaughters took over while she sat and watched.  We were a little bummed by that because we didn't pay to see them, but at her age, it's impressive that she was still touring at all.

We caught her show last year in Tampa.  Even as fragile as she is she puts on a good show.

Did a punk rock tour in the eighties and we ended up  meeting Loretta and her crew after stopping in the same truck stops for meals four days in a row. They asked us if we were musicians!

Saw Wanda Jackson about five years ago and was disappointed. She played great but kept telling the audience not to dance ( show was at a dance hall, not a seated theater) because the older folks in the audience might get bowled over by some rockabilly kooks. Also, she was heavy on the Jesus ranting..

I can tolerate the God-bothering from the likes of Wanda and Little Richard. It takes a crazy person to make crazy music.

Buy a modern imitation. Quality will be more consistent, and you won't have to be so damned careful with it. Spilling beer on a $2000 guitar? Unfortunate. Spilling beer on a $50,000 guitar? I don't even want to think about it.

Actually, the weird thing about Charlie's music is how normal it is. If you didn't know it was The Charlie Manson Experience, you'd think it was generic hippie singer/songwriter crap.

I so agree with what was said above.

STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM VINTAGE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

Huge waste of time and money. Remember, when you shell out thousands for that decades old ax you are purchasing all the decades of abuse, spilled beer on the pots, climate/humidity changes, blood-sweat and tears soaked into the action, damaged wires and circuits...etc.

I have had nothing but nightmare experiences with old guitars, basses, amps and keyboard-synths.

There are so many current manufacturers who put out some very high quality and low cost instruments that have real genuine VINTAGE MOJO. Real vintage mojo. Not just cosmetic appointment but the sound and feel of the classics.

Here are some of my favorites:
Eastwood, DiPinto and Italia guitars and basses.
Fender "Modern Player" series Starcaster and Coronado guitars and basses
Fender "Pawnshop" series guitars and amps
also....Korg,Roland,ARP and others have recently had their vintage analog synths reissued. (The Rolands are actually digital but they digitally reproduce that classic analog sound)

....anyway, I could go on....all of the above are new---cheap---and best of all come with a warranty.
