My guess would be pretty good. Was probably the same chicken that laid both eggs. Clearly she's an overachiever.

I bought a dozen eggs where half of them had double yolks. While somewhat trippy, they made some great breakfasts.

One double yolk is 1:1000. Two, in a row, is 1:1,000,000.

If you're curious, 12 in a row is 1:1x1036, which is a pretty big number. It's called an undecillion.

I've seen this a few times too, where multiple eggs in a carton will have double yolks. I wonder if whatever machine sorts the eggs might cluster the double-yolks together somehow, like for example if they consistently weigh differently from single-yolk eggs.

That was horrible. Horrible. I laughed, but I am also horrible.

Overall, a double yolk is about 1 in 1000.  On the other hand, if you're buying jumbo sized eggs at the store instead of large, the odds are much better.  So, on two truly random eggs, that's a million to one shot.  On two jumbo sized eggs, it's probably less than 1 in 1000.

Buying Jumbo sized definitely increases your chances.  I bought a carton of Jumbos a few weeks ago that had 3 double-yolks.
