I'm all for legalizing pot but there will be some complications that arise that people are overlooking, specifically when visiting our pants.  Be prepared for extra scrutiny when crossing the border, and DO NOT admit to having partaken even during the period after legalization to U.S customs or you will be sent home for having sampled the devils lettuce.

Things to do in Canada under new Pot Legalization:

Re-watch all Trailer Park Boys episodes while more stoned than Bubbles.

Poutine

Unlike America...Canadian money has different colors for each bill amount...so less likely to get ripped off while stoned

Poutine

Some here don't understand how stuff works.
First of all, no one is going to or will visit Canada for the pants.
Furthermore, colored money or not, the transaction for product takes place before the injestion. The injestion has to be done away from the purchasing facility.
People who oppose this innocuous plant sure are stupid.

My big one yes. Second hand weed smoke is not a bit pleasant. And it sticks to you.

The other concern is that it isn't so easy for a cop to determine of you're impaired while driving stoned. Big surprise, there are going to be a lot more stoners on the road.

You know checking your cell phone while driving is way more dangerous than driving stoned, right? Hell, it's just as bad as driving drunk. A stoner is, if anything, more cautious on the road.

Depends on the experience level with weed as well....some dude that smokes an ounce or two a month might have no problems driving stoned, the guy that has the occasional puff and then decides to drive? not so much

Data is inconclusive on how much an effect that's really had.

Marijuana related accidents are up on Colorado, but only a third of accidents where the driver tested positive for THC were marijuana only.  The rest tested positive for alcohol and/or other drugs.  Plus, there isn't a pot breathalyzer, so it's difficult to say they were high at the time of the accident rather they had been.

I will make an exception for Colorado. I lived in Colorado Springs for a decade, and they should force people to drive stoned there. I'm from the NYC area, and I was more nervous driving around the Springs than I ever was in the city.

Military town, and so you have 50 different styles of driving, depending on what state they're from. Hillbillies that have never been on an interstate, to people from LA, who can't believe they can drive as fast as they want through the "light" traffic of Colorado.

I wouldn't view it so much as "catering to potheads". I tend to look at it more as recognizing the reality of the situation. Even if one was to believe 100% of the "anti legalization" rhetoric -which you shouldn't because a significant amount of it is hyperbole- prohibition has become pointless and has been a complete and utter failure for decades. We've dumped enough resources into stopping people from smoking weed with nothing to show for it other than increased demand. At least by legalizing it we have some measure of control and the opportunity for tax recovery.

But hey, if you want to keep following the same failed plan that has proved to be an ineffective money pit for the lion's share of the last century go right ahead. I'm done having my tax dollars wasted.

/For the record I hold the same opinion regarding the sex industry: Legalize it and tax it.

FFS, read a little. Every metric from the Colorado experience shows nothing but improved societal behavior. Less DUI, less domestic assault calls, huge tax hauls, etc.etc. What's it gonna take for Americans to realize that listening to and electing old closited Bible thumping morons is not a progressive humane path to a better future? Keep the bud lite and Jack Daniels flowing tho, it helps to numb the pain of being the world's most backwards democracy. Oh yeah, give your people decent farking health care as well, you assholes.

Why?   Why will there be more stoners on the road then there are now?     All Trudeau is doing is making it legal it's not going to be any easier to get because pot is already EVERYWHERE.  You want it now you can get it.  Easily.
