Jeez, if someone held a gun to my back I'd give them my car. I don't care how freshly washed it is.

2004-05-14 01:55:35 PM
Mr. Likeitfresh: I don't care if you blow my head off. I'm not leaving until you say it!

Car Jack: Okay SIMONIZED says get out of the farking freshly-washed car!

Mr. Likeitfresh: Thanks alot. I guess I'll be walking to my pedicure. Oh well, have a nice day!

2004-05-14 05:06:09 PM
Well you've gotta admit, it is nice 'n shiny!

2004-05-14 05:06:30 PM
He was damn lucky. This isn't heroism, it's just lucky ass stupidity that he made it out without injury.

2004-05-14 05:06:59 PM
If a guy was pointing a gun to my back and told me to give up the car that was just washed. I'd spit all over the car and kick some dirt on the tires and windshield first before I handed him the goddamn keys.

No farking way I'm going to let him have fun with a clean car, DUH.

"(He) claimed he was in a car crash last night and was trying to get his family to the hospital."

Do you think he had that excuse all thought up ahead of time like a plan B? Do ambulances not exist in this town?

2004-05-14 05:09:26 PM
I'm not sure I'd give my car to a car jacker, and I never wash mine. It's the principle of the thing. Besides, once he shot me the car would be all messy and he wouldn't want it then, would he?

2004-05-14 05:13:37 PM
That guy is one stupid, lucky, SOB. The carjacker had a gun, they fought, and the jacker pinned him to the ground and begged him for the car.

If it were me, I wouldn't fight him if he had a gun, I'd let him have the car. But I'd be sure to get the license plate...Now who has the last laugh?

2004-05-14 05:14:08 PM
Folks weilding guns for carjacking seldomly use the weapon. At least that is the gamble right?

2004-05-14 05:15:15 PM
Hero? I beg to differ. More like asshat.

On my list of Important Things in Life, as much as I care for it and enjoy it, my car would most certainly rank last. It can be replaced.

Tell homeboy to try that down here in CA. He'd be going back to TN in a bodybag.

2004-05-14 05:17:07 PM
White is a good color for a rental car. White is the cheapest, fugliest color. If I had a white car I'd pay the guy to steal it. YMMW.

2004-05-14 05:18:35 PM
Too bad he didn't get a chance to run that clown over.

2004-05-14 05:18:52 PM
I witnessed a car-jacking last month.
Some dude in an Oldsmobile fapping away as he passed me.
NOT a pretty sight.

2004-05-14 05:23:32 PM
I don't see why you asshats call this guy an asshat. If more people were to resist crime, then it would not be as easy. If it was not as easy, less people would do it. If more criminals got shot by the people they were trying to rob, a lot less people would do it.

Enjoy.

2004-05-14 05:24:34 PM
Risk my life for a Mustang? I don't think so!

I have an Oldsmobile...

I agree, he's more deserving of a dumbass tag than anything... he obviously has the plates, and even if the car doesn't turn up, the insurance would cover that shiat.

2004-05-14 05:28:06 PM
I've never been carjacked, but someone DID ding my car with their car door once. Atleast I'm assuming that's what did it. And my rear speakers don't work very well, but I think that's just 'cause they're old.

2004-05-14 05:29:56 PM
...and in case your buddies want to get revenge on the guy, the site has thoughtfully posted pictures of him and his car.

If the carjacker had only been a little smarter than the owner (IQ of 80, say) he would have actually pulled the trigger. Honestly, as much as it would suck to be shot, I simply can't have any respect for a criminal who has a gun and gets taken down by an unarmed man.

In Knoxville owning a shiny new 'stang must be comparable to owning a Ferrari.

I guess it's still better than a mid-nineties Honda Civic with stupid rims a park bench bolted to the trunk and an exhaust system that sounds like someone farting into a tube.

2004-05-14 05:34:57 PM
This guy is not an asshat for defending his property. The carjacker is an asshat for begging for the car when HE WAS ON TOP and had the victim pinned! That is no position to beg in, that is the position to knock him unconcious and take the keys.

2004-05-14 05:41:11 PM
HERO tag belongs right there. I'd do the same thing as this guy. Thieves trigger some base animal-instict thing inside me where I no longer think rationally. I'd very much enjoy stomping the hell out of this would-be carjacker. I'd use his own gun on him with no mercy.

My father experienced an attempted carjacking a few years ago. He refused to give up his car, then the guy pulled out a hammer and hit my dad in the head. Then the culprit took off. I saw my dad's head, it was not pretty.

Feh, anybody who would kill someone for a Mustang is nearly as stupid as someone who would die protecting a Mustang.

Point is he's stupid for farking with a guy with a gun. The carjacker didn't want to kill him, obviously, but had he been so inclined that dude would be dead. He's an asshat for putting his life in danger needlessly... for a shiatty car!

Yes, that's one theory, at least. Another is that if you resist a guy who has a gun to your back, he will shoot you, you will die, your family is going to sob and wail at your funeral, while the cops will ask themselves why anyone would put a chunk of metal above their own well-being. This guy is a lucky dumbass.

2004-05-14 05:42:48 PM
I simply can't have any respect for a criminal who has a gun and gets taken down by an unarmed man.

But of course the whole part about being a criminal and making the attempt to steal a car at gunpoint is still respectable, right?

ROFL SxRxRR i like that park bench shot.. i thought if someone was trying to force your car keys from you you're supposed to toss the keys and kick em in the junk?

2004-05-14 05:44:54 PM
can u imagine the carjacker begging?!?!

"please sir I was in a car crash last night, I want to get my family to the hospital, your car has just been washed, I have you pinned down, and my gun is still with me,...but you're right I guess I should give up now!"

JereIC

you are looking at one person, i am looking at the big picture... are you telling me if a robber had say a 25% chance of getting shot for his efforts as opposed to the probably .25% chance right now that it wouldn't be more rare? that more people would say, "hmmm, maybe this isn't the best way to get some bucks?

2004-05-14 05:55:45 PM
Hmmmmm....to ROB or to PANHANDLE?

When trying to convince someone to hand over their car, don't try the sob story AFTER the weapon has failed to do the trick. Doesn't anybody teach their kids anything these days?

2004-05-14 05:56:37 PM
"(He) claimed he was in a car crash last night and was trying to get his family to the hospital. I just told him he was trying to steal the wrong car for that," says Bardo.

It sounds like a plausible excuse.

Gosh, I hope his family is all right.

This story is more deserving of a [image from img.fark.com too old to be available] tag. I was robbed at gunpoint a couple of years ago and had I not cooperated, I would not be typing this message.

DasCoop, you are assuming that people doing the carjacking are actually smart enough to consider that what they are doing might be dangerous...

I'm with the "fark the car, I value my life" crowd.

2004-05-14 06:02:24 PM
But I'd be sure to get the license plate...Now who has the last laugh?

yeah, I keep my plate # written down in my glovebox too

I'm there with Jaeger. A relative of mine was walking to his car through a mall parking lot at night when he was grabbed and pulled into a van at gunpoint. The guys in the van took his wallet and drove around for a while deciding what to do with him. They finally dumped him a few blocks away, unharmed, but with the shiat throughly scared out of him.

Screw it. Guy with a gun wants my car, it's his. That's what insurance is for.

He's an idiot. Your car isn't worth getting shot and possibly dying.

The guy's not a dumbass, he's not an asshat either. Some people don't mind taking chances with their lives in order to keep their dignity and property. There's also the matter of the would-be-carjacker's demeanor and the context of the situation.

Check it out...
Carjacker 1: "Like, give me your keys or I'll shoot you or something dude"

Carjacker 2: "Give me you motherfarkin keys quick asswipe or I'll blow your brains all over thay pretty white paintjob!"

2004-05-14 06:42:02 PM
would I be less of a carjack target since I have vanity plates that are easily recognizeable?

Neither is skydiving, but people do that all the time.

When sensely obstanance beats long odds, media reports and idiots put up [image from img.fark.com too old to be available].
The dozen [image from img.fark.com too old to be available] who died trying the same stunt never make the news. Too common.

2004-05-14 06:47:34 PM
Slightly unrelated, but as a hardcore car nut, I think carjackers and run of the mill car thieves should all be considered armed and dangerous criminals, and people should be allowed to shoot them.

I think there would be a lot fewer car thefts if thieves were wondering if someone is aiming a 30/30 at their head from their bedroom window at 3 AM.

/been robbed too many times

2004-05-14 06:48:40 PM
There might be some things worth dying for, a car isn't one of them.

2004-05-14 06:55:10 PM

I understand what you're saying, and you make a good point; if it's more dangerous to commit a crime, less of that crime is committed. Studies have shown that burglars are less likely to rob houses with a high likelihood of owning a gun, and many buglars say they won't rob houses with guns becuase they run a greater risk of getting shot and killed during a robbery.

However, this guy is not in the position of making a choice for all of society. He is one guy who had a loaded gun aimed at his back, and he took a huge risk by trying to fight the carjacker off. Just because he succeeded and taught the carjacker a lesson doesn't mean the rest of us would be so lucky in the same circumstance. These "man fights off car jacker" stories are news stories becuase they are so rare; more often, people who try to fight off carjackers end up in a hospital or the mourge.

In short, it might be better for you or me if everyone faught their carjackers, since there'd be fewer carjackers, but it'd suck for all those innocent people who got shot in the process.

The guy who decided to fight with the would be carjacker probably subscribes to the philosophy;

"I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees."

Why is the personals pic (Aidenshire) been the same for more than a week? What's up with that?

The guy is starting to look spooky.

Well, the first time I saw the pic, I thought "Oh, a mysterious one!" ....
by the 3rd day, I was thinking "You some Sun, son!" .... now, I'm thinking he's a serial killer...

Dang it.

That should say "You NEED some Sun, son!"

Have to throw in my four cents.

1) If everyone was allowed to carry a conceled weapon. I guarantee you, I'd blow someone's head off for having too many items in the "express lane". I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd use it for a reason not intended.

2) Alexis is still my fave.
