I know it's the obvious reaction, but it's the truth.

Authorities still wonder why Konishi was searching for the money in Bismarck, which doesn't even play a role in the 1996 Joel and Ethan Coen film.

I'll agree with Drummer DOH!

Poor girl. Sounds like chasing buried treasure was the least of her worries. Well at least it was creative. Dead Boobies.

The Fargo Forum (local paper) had a really in-depth account of the follow-up on this story with police interviews and stuff... I would have submitted the link but they make you register, which is b.s. and would earn me the wrath of Farkers everywhere. Still, if anyone cares, it's at

this link, probably still on the front page.

This is the second time I have heard about this poor unfortunate dreamer, and I had to laugh at how pathetic she truly was a second time around. Sure, it's not funny to laugh at people's misfortunes, but hey -- everyone does. I remind me of Jack Handey saying something like that

-he who stacks pork

Bismarck is in the movie... the motel that Jerry Lundegard is discovered in at the end of the movie is supposedly just outside of Bismarck. But yeah, he hid the money somewhere in Minnesota... and only in the snow, not underground or anything. She must not have watched it too closely.

She might have been seeing a completely different movie than the rest of us.

CandyPink: Thanks for the link. I don't have the patience to register now (I saw all those boxes and hit Back) but I just love this story. Heard it back when it happened, too. It seems like something that would have happened in the movie.

Hmmm, maybe the version she saw over there had been "transrated" from "Engrish", and she was sure it was in Bismarck.

You know.. I believed the opening title that claimed the story was real too.. but didnt go looking for the money...

Yes "Fargo" is fiction

I was thinking the same thing as Doctor. Maybe it was subtitled in Japanese and something was lost in the translation. In any case someone this dumb really proves the teory of evolution.

SEE this is how Nurse Betty could have had a sad ending. Japanese folks always take failure so hard...

What buried treasure in 'Fargo'? ::runs through his memory of the movie:: I swear, that doesn't ring a bell.
