Ephemera like this is of scholarly interest. Especially as research institutions have only really started collecting this kind of stuff in recent decades. I'm sure there'll be a library or museum interested in the collection.

Jujubes from 1946 wouldn't be any staler than Jujubes from yesterday. Somehow those things are manufactured stale.

And I say that as a fan, although I never quite know why I'm a fan.

I know the feeling.  I keep buying those little farks even though they annoy me to no end.

I never had Peanets (WTF?) Carmies, whatever Suchard is, nor the delightfully casually racist "Coolies". In a related thought, I need to see if mouth-moistened Jujubes still stick to the screen.

I used to know an old lady who collected Hershey Bar wrappers.
Ironed them.
Stored them in shoeboxes.
I helped her kids clean out her house when she passed and we collected 2,300+ show boxes of ironed, folded Hershey Bar wrappers.

Life can be .. odd ..

Forget the wrappers, was there still any candy left?

You aren't supposed to eat Jujubees. This candy was created solely to throw at those making noise, goofing off during the movie. small, dense and quite accurate when tossed.

Back in the late 1970's I worked at two theaters in downtown Fredericksburg (Va). The Victoria and the Colonial both opened at the end of the 1920's. While rummaging around the Colonial projection room one day I found a 40 year old (unused, thank God) condom, suffering, like most teenagers' condoms, from dry rot. After the Victoria closed I found a 35mm reel of the famous Apple 1984 advertisement.

When I was in high school in Fredericksburg in the late 70's, I worked at the Colonial when Ray Kasper turned it into a live theater. I remember the first showings of Halloween at the Victoria and someone's VW was manually turned sideways in a parking space in front of the theater.

Love seeing these old theaters restored. Never made it to the Congress, but saw many a good show at the Uptown (The Kinks!, circa 1979). Great place for a concert, shame it's too late for that venue.

Jujubes
Root Beer Barrels
Candy Dots
Chocolate Babies
Sugar Daddies
Non-Pareils
Boston Baked Beans
Licorice Whips
Red Hots

In my youth, I obviously spent an unwholesome amount of time (and money) at theaters and candy shops.

Remember the Colonial showing blaxploitation movies? I worked under Fred Sullivan and hired all my friends to work there. One guy named Casey and I would get high on the marquee of the Colonial (while changing movie titles).

I do remember that. Remember Goolrick's Modern Pharmacy with the lunch counter and the best grilled cheese sandwiches ever? When we converted the theater over for live shows, we discovered some interesting areas undisturbed for decades. Have you ever been on top of the old scenery flyway above the stage? That was the scariest climb on a rickety old wood ladder.

What I find interesting is that several of the examples, such as the spearmint and doublemint gum, the packaging hasn't changed all that much in over seventy years.
