He can put U.S. embassies, consulates and various bureaus into Trump-branded properties in foreign countries so we have to pay him rent.

Is that USD or Rubles?

/Bet Putin pays Trump with counterfeit Rubles that are deliberately misspelled as Rube-les.
//Yes, in English.

From what we've seen so far it appears he intends to make it up on volume.

So is that including the new Rosneft money he just recently added to his hidden offshore accounts or not?

There's enough billionaires that they make an appreciable market group.

How much do you want to bet Putin's got a tighter string on that money than Trump thinks or expects?

If it were me, I would.  Let him think he's big time, then yank all of it from him and watch him flail.

It's only a flesh wound audit.

You would think that whoever ended up with those shares might want to come forth to end the wild speculation that it was transferred to Trump through shady means, you know clear the air on that one...
But nope.  Because it is Trump's, and those shares might be what pushes this from a prison sentence to an execution when the dust settles.

Call me a wishful thinker!

It's hard for me to believe that his worth has actually dropped that much, given all the grifting.

Probably that we have a better estimate as to his actual net worth now than we did a year ago, or something like that?

Boy, I sure hope so. It's hard enough grappling with this stupid timeline without giving up hope of his eventual spectacular fall.

/Put it on PPV and we could re-fund all the agencies he's gutting.

The dude has been flaunting and bragging about his wealth since the 80s but I don't think he's ever made that list.

That probably cheeses him right off.

Maybe some Trumpers can explain this to us: if he's such a business and financial genius who's going to do amazing things for America that no one else can do, then why is he only the 544th richest person in the world?

The value of Trump's brand is tied to people who don't know what luxury is.

There's actual luxury, and then there's Trump Luxury. People who understand and value luxury don't shiat in gold toliets, they wipe their asses with silk*.

Idiots think ostentation is luxury. Trump is ostentatious. Idiots like Trump.

/* I don't think anyone does that anymore, it would be hell on the pipes. But it would be luxurious.

Not in this light, doing so to be a dick is frowned upon but referencing a great post and giving credit where credit is due is above water for sure.
And if it isn't, then ban me too because that post was worth revisiting.

I also think a lot of the moderation on those matters is based on getting reported, you won't get reported for giving props where props are due.
But don't listen to me too closely, the rules are all in the thingy and I often end up in timeout for not abiding so...

And this is how I know that you have no idea how casinos work. This isn't the 1950's or 60's Casino movie. Casinos go bankrupt fairly regularly. Lets look at what their bottom line is:

Paying (by repaying loans) a mortgage
Taxes (property and other)
Payouts (mandated by state and local laws) that have a floor payout
Utilities (have you ever been in a casino? The electric bill alone must be outrageous).
Employees (they get paid the same whether you have customers or not)
Maintenance, inside and out. Including that pool that doesn't earn them a penny other than attracting customers.
Comps (to keep people coming back)
Constant remodeling so you don't look outdated and have customers go somewhere else that have remodeled.
Economy (economic downturns mean people have less discretionary cash for entertainment)
Plus a bunch of other nickle and dime stuff that adds up over time.

That is not "Nothing".

Yet lots of other casinos run by actual smart businessmen at the same time prospered wildly even as Trump's failed. I think what you meant to say is 'businesses have expenses'.

JohnBigBootay: Yet lots of other casinos run by actual smart businessmen at the same time prospered wildly even as Trump's failed. I think what you meant to say is 'businesses have expenses'.

I said what I said because the claim was " Casinos, FFS! People walk in and hand you their money for basically nothing."

Yes businesses do have expenses and it seems that a lot of people don't get that when it comes to casinos because they are idiots chasing after the big win that never seems to come to them while ignoring what they did get. But the casino industry (and it is an industry) is extremely fickle and more random than almost any other business. AC dried up when the Indian Casinos got a foothold. They gave slightly worse odds but they were hours closer to a lot of people who were driving down to AC. The time and money spent driving was more important than gambling wins were because they weren't looking to make a big win but to have some fun. They sucked a lot of gambling dollars out of AC. AC is a shadow of it's former self.

To put it another way: You don't usually go to Disneyworld on a regular basis if Disneyland is just down the road.

As to prospered wildly I'd need to see a cite on that. This isn't the TV or movies. Caesars Palace is finishing up a bankruptcy right now over multiple properties (if they haven't done so already). Trump has nothing to do with them. It happens even with well run properties.

My general rule which I'll gladly share is that when you walk into a casino assume that you're going to lose it all so don't go Clark Griswald (casino ATMS will rape you anyway with fees). Set an amount, in cash, in your own pocket, that you're willing to lose and spread it around. Then have some fun. If you win then that's just an added bonus. If you lose well then at least you had some fun. Low budget? Penny slots and low limit blackjack will stretch the fun out. Don't get greedy chasing after that big win, that's where they get you.
