Has Putin ever returned the Superbowl ring to  Kraft ?

Torgo_of_Manos: Has Putin ever returned the Superbowl ring to  Kraft ?

I watched the Real Sports last night where they profiled Kraft.  They touched on this a little but I had no idea Putin's pocketing of the ring was so damn blatant.

Wait how did no one know that the Seahawks SB jersey of his was missing too? Did he just think it was in his other closet or something?

I just heard the culprit might have had Von Miller's helmet from SB L.

It pretty much went down the same way that Simpsons episode about Fidel and the trillion dollar bill went down.
P: "That's a nice ring, can I see it?"
K: "Don't let it get too comfortable, can I have the ring back now?"
P: "What ring?"

Kraft should just ask his pal Trump if the next time he talks to Putin, could he ask him to give it back.

"The jersey was valued at $500,000, which makes this potential crime a first-degree felony, assuming it was indeed stolen."

Can they charge the perpetrator based on a valuation that has never been realized? I mean I can say my stolen iPhone is worth $500,000, but that doesn't make it so. Shouldn't the crime be based on the actual value of the jersey, which is probably more like a few hundred? Any law-talking farkers want to weigh in?

They haven't released the name of the person who had the jerseys but it sounds like he was in Mexico. My guess is Pedro Rey, also known as the Jugador de Ataque de Lunes por la Mañana.

Howling Fantods: Can they charge the perpetrator based on a valuation that has never been realized?

Yes, because they can easily prove that "jersey Tom Brady wore to win his 5th Super Bowl" has a fair market value of a great deal more than $300

You could value a Picasso painting at the cost of canvas and paint if you wanted to. But somewhere there is an idiot Cheatriots fan that would buy that stinky jersey for Picasso money.

for context, a Terry Bradshaw jersey he wore in an unremarkable 1977 playoff game just sold for $66k

The White house called Kraft and told him to drop it and not make an issue of it.  Kraft had another ring made.

Supposedly Putin really liked the ring and made a comment about it's size and stated you could crack a man's skull with it.

Find an expert appraiser to give a value. Defense can find their own to give a lower value. But anyone with a functioning brain would know that that jersey is worth far more than a new one off the rack.

I really don't understand memorabilia theft (or art theft, etc). Isn't the whole point of owning it to brag about having whatever jersey, helmet, etc?

What's the point of owning it if you can't brag about it because it's stolen?

1) Having something other people can't have makes some people feel good.

2) You can brag about it in certain circles.

3) you may do it to sell it in the future.

4) Lots of collectors get kicks out of just having the stuff.

No, Trump has been having to pretend he doesn't know Putin, so he hasn't had a chance to negotiate away the rest of Ukraine yet to get it back.

There seems to be a lot missing from this story.  What's the deal with the SB49 jersey also stolen by the same guy, something that we never heard before?  Or does Brady have two bags in his locker, one labeled "Super Bowl winning jerseys" and the other labeled "Super Bowl jerseys worn against the Giants"?

Or were they stolen at different times, which would make you think that he would have paid a bit more attention to this.  "Gee, my jersey got stolen last time, so let me put it in this bag in my open locker in an incredibly chaotic environment full of celebrating and wasted people.  It'll be totes safe."

Read another story that said the guy in Mexico also had Von Miller's helmet from the 2015 Super Bowl...there is also supposedly video now of the guy snatching Brady's jersey from the locker room.

I have no clue what the jersey is worth as I hate collecting crap and clutter except paychecks. But between the lore of Tom Brady, the comeback in SB 51, and now this whole story breaking which adds to it all...that jersey is a pretty valuable thing.
