it's 6000. Get your facts right, Mr. Science. It's all there in the Bible.

That article is wrong in many places. They found and dated the 4+ billion year old rocks years ago not recently. And the oldest known previous rocks were well over 2.7 billion years old. Rainbow Gneiss from Minnesota is roughly 3.5 billion years old for one.

Gneiss is metamorphic. So I think the story is that they found crust, not rocks that have been transformed down below.

How many times do we have to go through this? The dating is unreliable because of the pressure of the water during the flood. So it seems like it's 4 billion years old when it reality it's more like 600 years old.

The article doesn't mention anything about when they found and dated the crust sample.  Also this is original crust not a rock formed below and then pushed up towards the surface.  Which is what the Morton Gneiss is.

The geologists discovered the chunk of rock enveloped by granite in an area known as "The Canadian Shield" which forms the ancient geological core of the North American continent.

The Canadian Shield would be a great name for a superhero.

// or superhero organization, as it were.

I always thought the 6000 year old number was interesting since it closely coincides with the timing of actual written history.

I thought the Canadian Shield was a feel-good cop show where a strike force strictly enforces the law in the most polite manner possible?

It's no accident, to be sure. It's modern man's version of each generation's belief that they invented drinking and screwing.

6000 +/- 4.3 billion years years old. It is well within the margin of error.

This is what Smart atheist think STUPID Christians Zealots believe.

Smart people agree on actual data. They can disagree on religion.  Stupid people make generalizations.

So you do a broad attack against atheist, have nothing and then you claim you aren't religious.

I thought your statement might involve intellectual process  with philosophical filter.

Clearly I was wrong about the intellectual process and philosophical filter.

I guess I just can't stand smug asshole atheists.

BTW there's an important distinction between not being religious, and being a smug asshole atheist who likes shiatting on religion like most of the idiots in this thread.

Clearly I was wrong in assuming you would understand that.

There are plenty of dumbasses in both religious and atheist camps.

I'm just getting sick  getting lumped in with militant atheist. I personally think if religion works for you great, leave me out of it.

I made a point of saying smart atheist only think that of dumb Christian zealots. And then I said smart Christians and Smart Atheist can agree on data.

No, that's what attending a Lutheran Church Missouri Synod school taught me. I'm not an atheist; I'm a heretic.
