Nunes?

If he really wanted to investigate a hack he would start with himself first.

Seriously, this guy called around to various media outlets and tried to get them to back off the story on Trump's orders.

He needs to back off and let someone who isn't Trump's biatch do a real investigation.

And, just cos this headline gave me an earworm.

He has also never apparently never heard of Carter Page or Roger Stone. But no big deal. I mean, are they really important to the investigation that he's currently heading?

Seriously. If nothing else, putting a Republican with fewer blatant ties to Trump in charge would make it a LITTLE more plausible when the investigation "finds nothing".

And, because I can never see his name without thinking of it:

Can someone explain why Nunes leading the committee in charge of investigating Trump-Russia and his being a part of Trump's transition team is not a conflict of interest?

2017-03-20 09:32:26 PM
The fact that our intelligence organizations allowed this to happen. Allowed Putin to effectively take over the entire country and stop us in our tracks, possibly even in time to destroy us.  That fact right there, shows we deserve to lose.  That the CIA both missed the ques that it was happening, that other countries intelligence agencies got the clues and did not give the appropriate heads up, that NOBODY ended whoever they needed to end, maybe because they were so weak and pathetic that they could not. And now Russia owns us.  This shows we deserve to lose.  To become a third world nation.  To no longer be a world power, indeed maybe soon to even cease to exist.

But we earned it.  Thats how pathetic we are.  We earned this.  Our country is going to have its throat slit and left to bleed out in a gutter while rich men rape the pieces and eat our children.  Well done CIA, well done.  Take a farking bow.

Being a dairy farmer, or former dairy farmer, doesn't disqualify one from being an effective Chair for the Intelligence Committee. On the utter hand ...

2017-03-20 09:34:46 PM
Our founding fathers (the mothers were in the kitchen unfortunately) had the concept of legislators who were normal people, ok normal wealthy property owners, who would spend part of a year in the congress or the state house but then be back working at their usual job surrounded by the people they represented.

The problem now is that so much that confronts congress really requires specialized knowledge to understand, but scientists or network knowledgeable folks are essentially non-existent.  Instead we have mostly rich lawyers with some rich business people who know dick about any technological issue.

Because the GOP doesn't give a shiat about conflicts of interest unless they're allegedly done by Democrats.

It's back to the GW Bush era's Alberto Gonzales's "I don't recall," replies to everything. Also reminds me of FL's Rick Scott's way of answering news media questions. He just repeats the same phrase again and again. The phrase may have nothing to do with the question. He might just say, "At the sound of the beep, the time will be eleven o'clock and fifteen seconds."
