The brother of one of my coworkers is alive because of Obamacare. My coworker voted for Trump based on his pledge to repeal Obamacare. Last month my coworker learned his brother has cancer again. Awkward.

Imagine how badly Trump is going to lose the popular vote when so many of his voters cark it for want of some minor surgery, meanwhile Californians are so well preserved they'll be here forever.

Republicans are gonna burn it all down, not because they have to but because they want to.

At this point, I think Ryan is whipping the House Republicans with an actual whip.

Say what you want about Trump.  But when I saw how he rolled through career politicians while spending a fraction of the money, he looked like a genius.

Then he hitched his wagon to Paul Ryan.  Now he looks pretty dumb.

My coworker knows a farmer who relies on immigrant labor, now that you mention it. But, you know, stigginit is pretty important.

. . .and last week at a Town Hall meeting, my Representative boasted that he was going to "enthusiastically" vote for this mess.

. . .and he ignored the chorus of boos and jeers it brought in, dismissively saying that "Obamacare" is SO BAD that literally any replacement bill would be lots better. . .and dismissively brushed off the jeers of that by going on to talk about how he says there is no consensus on climate change and he's pretty sure that it's not happening or that if it is, that it's not caused by anything man is doing.

My Rep has a remarkable ability to not give a fark about what his constituents think. . .and keep getting re-elected because of masses of Rural voters who vote blindly straight-ticket Republican (and keep blaming "libs" for their lives getting worse)

For many states, health care is a big part of their economy, like Maine and West Virginia. So taking $1.2 trillion out of that service economy is a really bad idea.  And Ryan/Trump are about to discover Keynesian economics where you can't balance the budget by cutting domestic spending especially at 1.8% inflation.

Trump is an idiot asshole that could get us all killed, but I have a hard time believing he wants to us to die. Paul Ryan is clearly a sociopath that revels in others' suffering and the average GOP voter farking eats this shiat up. They are cheering for death. For as bad as Trump is, the GOP has been proving they are the real threat. It must be destroyed. Resist everyone.

As someone who has been on Medicaid for what, 10 years now, give or take, I fear what will happen when I lose it soon. No more medication that barely keeps me functional. Christ. At least my issues are only mental ones. But I think I might be more worried about friends and family who will no longer be able to afford care. Friends who might get sick. My mother is definitely going to hurt more when she can't afford insurance for her medication that keeps her from having another heart attack. Jesus. There's no silver lining to any of this. Par the course for life, I know, but still, fark. Oh well, hope my stepdad thinks voting against Hillary because she would be worse was worth it, despite having epilepsy. To say nothing of other health issues in this family.

God, we're all farked.

Progressives should have already been running a multi-million dollar ad campaign to make sure every Trump voter fully understands the ramifications of this bill. Target these POS where they get their media... make them ask their congressman and be shot down.

This is the time to shift perception, we need more progressive investment going as guerrilla as R's billionaires.

But it does not capitalize on the widespread dissatisfaction with Trump himself. "Obamacare" worked because it put a (unpopular) face on the ACA. "Democare" wouldn't have worked nearly as well.

It's not fair to say the GOP doesn't care.  They care, immensely.  They just care that poor people, minorities, and other already-vulnerable people get the shaft to benefit those who are already wealthy and successful.

2017-03-20 08:08:07 AM
Sorry Paul, but as long as Trump is in power you will never be President. If he makes it through the next 8 years, he has 3 children who will be up next. Every one very popular with the voter base you created. They won't even require a transition team.

It's 100% guaranteed to fail in Senate, unless Ryan has resorted to outright bribes of molten gold. There are at least three moderate Republicans who have publicly stated they will not vote for it in its current form.

He's whipping them to keep them at bay. The Freedumb Caucus smells blood in the water. Ever-vengeful Trump knows Ryan has trashed him in private.

Basically if this bill fails, he could be done as speaker or he'll have to rely on Pelosi to get the simplest things done.

You know, just like John Boehner did.

Won't work this time. Democrats the minority party. Midterms disfavor the majority party. Example: both Obama terms saw Dem losses. The GOP lost both midterms during Bush's presidency.

Considering that his entire legislative agenda is riding on this, I would be shocked if he wasn't.

Also, I've only heard of two committed "no" votes, and of those two, only one (Collins) is because the bill goes too far. Get rid of the tax credits and Rand Paul would be all for it.

So he's a no vote, then. The tax credits are literally how they're trying to sell this deal to the people they want to fark over. The other side is the CBO report acknowledging that it would reduce the deficit.
