Probably shouldn't have come out of hyperspace so close to Hoth.

Ozil is as clumsy as he is stupid.

This just has to be a "I'm not jumping, push me and pay me" deal.

Rock out with your Wenger out.

I'm with you--mostly. Wenger still needs a faster striker up top. Giroud's physicality and Walcott's pace. Someone taller and stronger than Alexis.

Arsenal Fan TV has been fantastic the past month.  I look forward to the interviews more than games.

Rant Time!!!

1)Kronke is the main problem here. As the owner he sets the standard for what expectations are. He has set that standard at, A) Make me money B) Don't spend too much of my money C) Reread A. Wegner is perfect for this because he has three jobs meaning Kronke doesn't have to employ two other people and Wegner is famous for treating the club like it is his own child to nurture and grow without over extending itself (doesn't spend crazy amounts of money). As long as Wegner is competitive Arsenal make money and Kronke has no need to replace him, hence the 2 year extension available to Wegner right now.

2)Wegner is a serious problem too. Wegner plays one way and only one way. 4-3-3 with expressive, free flowing, possession heavy football that leads to an attacking mentality. For this style to work you have to have an anchor in the defensive midfield who can control play and break up counter attacks. Ozil is the antithesis of this.

3)Ozil is effectively a Shadow Striker that plays behind the Center Forward. If he is in the game the formation effectively becomes a 4-2-4 because Ozil will not play effective defense and shouldn't be asked to. The problem is that Ozil is a world class attacking player that Wegner feels he must play even though it limits the ability to play against teams that also have world class players. So when you play against a team that can attack Arsenal and play possession style as well, Arsenal are left with 2 CB's and 2 MF's trying to control everything with neither MF being a DM. The FB's in Wegner's system play so far forward to control possession and attack that they have a hard time getting back to help in defense.

Kronke isn't going to sell the club so the next best thing is to change managers. Wegner refuses to acknowledge that there are other methods to play the game and routinely sets up the side in a manor befitting Barca against a minnow of Spain. However Arsenal are not Barca and even the lowliest Premier League clubs have spending powers only matched by the power houses of Europe, hence they have competitive teams. Ozil can be accommodated at Arsenal if the style of play is changed. Sanchez can be accommodated if the style of play is changed. Even Walcott can be accommodated if the style of play is changed, but if nobody is willing to challenge Wegner on that style the team will struggle against any opponent that sets themselves up to stop Arsenal's passing game.

End Rant

Bingo. The Arsenal board doesn't actually care about "winning" anything. Wenger deserves some blame for his failure to adopt new tactics, etc, but there's an overwhelming "eh, that'll do" prevailing attitude from the top on down in that football club.

Oh, and Julian Nagelsmann is the manager that any big club should be going after.

Take one look at that Hoffenheim roster and tell me with a straight face that even other top managers in the world could do as well with it as Julian sas. Go on, look and try to do so. I'll wait.

Uh, he does have Lucas Perez, which he paid £17 Million to Deportivo de La Coruña to acquire...and for whatever reason in his mind declines to play as a CF/Striker.

I want Jardim from Monaco...badly.

He ticks all the boxes that Wenger ticks...yet he's a good tactical coach who wants a solid, compact defense first before he works on the attack.

He's good too. More than anything, I just loved Nagelsmann's quote about how coaching is "30% tactics, and 70% social competence." You can draw up the most creative and otherwise excellent whiteboard illustrations of how to attack & defend all you want, but it doesn't mean fark all unless you know how to connect with each individual personality in that locker room and get everyone to buy into their role.

Enough of what's out. Tell me what's in.

Ice-blended mocha drinks and David Schwimmer.

Wont Arsenal lose with or without the guy?
Might as well hire someone who will work cheap and doesnt mind losing

It's why teams like Liverpool, Leeds and Forest in the 70s/80s and Man U under Sir Alex were so sucessful.

I could see that. Allegri's name is still being bandied about, but none of it matters if Wenger is staying another season or two.

I'm not necessarily of the opinion that a manager of an overperforming side will necessarily just be better at a top performing side. The most prominent example for me is Brendan Rodgers, although the same could probably be said of David Moyes.

Which is odd--he's looked decent when played in cup matches.

I agree with the sentiment wholeheartedly, but you have to admire what he's done with the team.
