Lots of racism in early Rock.
The reason Elvis was popular was because he was a white guy playing 'black' music.

Or ok, maybe it was missing a caveat of "in the US".

It's "funny" how FM radio played more of his catalogue today than I have ever heard before.

Same as the day after Warren Zevon slipped the surly bonds. I heard more different selection from HIS oeuvre on that day than I had ever heard before (or, if I'm being honest, since.)

/Yes. I still listen to FM radio (sometimes even by choice.)

Big deal. Weekly record charts only indicate a ranking in popularity among whatever else is popular at that time.

Check out his late 70s / early 80s live stuff on Youtube sometime.  His blues work back then was very good (shiat, it's still good now).  His major talent and influences has always been blues, not work.

Bite me.
You had the subliminal overtones of BDSM with Wither's Use me.
Burning love was a shout out to all the girls down at the free clinic.
Everybody plays the fool was playing on all stations for all men and women who had been played and help us all realize that being hurt is being human.
Nights in White satin was stoner lite for those trying a doobie for the first time.
Ben, well, MJ was farked up and that is proof right there. Farking love song about a rat, yeeesh.
Garden Party (Skipping Mac Davis because he sang that one ironically) was a shout out to the behind the scenes crowd. Popcorn by hot butter. This was more of a novelty song than ding-a-ling and could only have happened during disco's infancy. Go all the way was edgy in its time, and Tight rope was awesome for northern folks who never got to hear a gravel throated bluesman croon.
Freddie's Dead was a song about Heroin, much like Slippin' into darkness was.
Rod Stewart sucked and always will.
Good time Charlie was a suck pill.
Donny Osmond can kiss my ass, since he called the cops on me that time.
Rick Springfield's had much better songs.
The doobies are like the Eagles, Maaaan.
James Brown? He da man. STFU.
Arlo was the second generation of real American songwriters, and is the son of God.
You can't rip on an era when you had the extremely Caucasian Johnny Nash side by side with the 5th dimension.
Eagles, I tossed that 8 track out the window, ( Kidding, I don't litter, I gave it to my mom)
The next 4 sucked but were eclipsed by the votex of suck that was Helen Reddy's I am Woman, which set bay the woman's movement 500 years.
The next 4 sucked balls and Nilsson's Space Man was jut album filler and gravy for him. he's a genius.
Black and White was the End of 3 dog night. the END.
Summer Breeze was as white as it got that year.
How that pile of suck buried the o'Jays back stabbers and the Band's Don't do it is beyond me, except not everybody that voted for this shiat was cool back then. Elected was the father of Marilyn Manson's shout out to Politics. The next two should go in the bin and how did the white stoner classic ELP hit the bottom of this list? Because their music was "experimental " at the time.

There are normally more than one song on an album.

Me. I write novelty songs.
I make money writing songs.
I've been playing music wince the 1960s .
I've written jingles and ghost written hits.
I've forgotten more about music than you know, but I've put ear worms in your head.

Chuck Berry only had 1 #1 Billboard single, which still puts him ahead of Springsteen, James Brown, Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and The Who.
