I blame Space Invaders, unless it was some sort of Yar's Revenge thing.

Sigh. Might as well get it started here.

Cocaine is a helluva drug.

I have had my fair share of coke-fuelled orgies, but at my age, my next one will probably be my last. But what a way to go. Honestly, I'm shocked that I've made it to 42 with my past decisions. To paraphrase an apocryphal quote: "God favors children, drunkards, and fools."

On the reality show Jerseylicious, which ran on the now defunct Style Network from 2010 to 2103

As terrible as this show sounds, a 93-year run is still pretty impressive.

Not a very good personal trainer if he dies at 28.

I don't think you ready for this Jersey

Has anyone pointed out that the vast majority of these "Jersey Assholes" are not from Jersey? Because the vast majority of them are not. Jersey can take credit for Danny DiVito, Jack Nicholson, John Travolta, Joe Pesci, And a handful of other household show biz names. But not Snooki, and not this guy.

I would surmise, that due to the nature of reality TV, they were never a romantic couple, but just played one on TV.

These shows are modern soap operas. Casted, directed, and scripted with an emphasis on improv.

According to the coroner report, the steroids shrunk his balls to a minuscule size and they were absorbed into his body, finally reaching the brain causing a major stroke. Paramedics at the scene couldn't treat him properly because they were not able to lift his body due to the slippery properties of his excessive use of spray tan.

I think we are throwing the word "star" around a little too loosely nowadays.

Tanqueray: Dude was 22 in that pic? Did he die of old age?

My first thought was "Damn he looks old for 28!", then I read the caption under the picture telling me that it was taken 6 years previously.

Did this dude age in dog years or something?

Maybe he had progeria?

The Degenatron gaming system plays three exciting games, including Defender of the Faith, where you save the green dots with your fantastic flying red square! Monkey's Paradise, where you swing from green dot to green dot with your red square monkey! And Penetrator, where you smash the green dots deep inside the mysterious red square!

Yep. Atari had absolutely amazing artwork for their games. I guess its an inverse the crappier/better the graphics the better/crappier the game packaging artwork was.

However I always hated that Missile Command guy's Twiki helmet though...

Funny, never heard of the show, the channel or the guy. Well, at least not until today. I'll also add to the whole 'they are being really loose with the star tag' thing. They should only ever give that title to people possessing actual talent.

Still can't grasp the whole "Reality" show thing, if I wanted to see crap like they show I'd hang around 24 hour laundromats, bars and downtown gyms. Not sure if shows like The Voice or America's Got Talent are considered 'reality' shows or not, I consider them Talent Competitions* and usually only watch until they get the seasons picks, the core that they whittle down to one. I want to see/hear the entire pool of talent but I never make it past that.

*With America's Got Talent I honestly see it as more of a Circus act competition, a "Variety Hour" if you will. Never know what manner of pure weirdness is stepping on the stage next. And that's the reason I never continue to watch after the new batch is chosen, I've seen the newest group of "talent" and honestly, once is enough.

The lady is a big fan of the "housewives" shows and some of the other Bravo network offerings.

Like i said upthread,  they are modern soap operas that wrapped themselves in the flag of "reality". The real wives of beverly hills stars a "former" soap opera star, and she is also the executive producer of the spin off show that takes place at her resturant.

The appeal of these shows is that it allows schelps like you and I to pretend that we are sneaking a peek on the inner lives of these glamorous people who have problems just like us!

There actually is talant there..  and a structure, and a script.

Shooting involves a scenario, a set piece and a direction to drive a plot.
Then... improv, and a attempt to make it all look beliveable.

Next is editing to make it all fit.

Personally,  I derive no joy or entertainment from watching people scream at each other, so my sainted bride waits for me to be away, or wearing headphones while I'm asleep before indulging her habit.

The talant shows?  Yes.. the modern extension of the variety show of yore.

People nowadays find things like the sonny and cher show to be tired and cheesy, so the format was re-tooled for the modern age.

I liked the new Muppet show,  it took the original shows "back stage antics at a variety show" and turned it into "back stage antics at a talk show."
