I'm having a good time in life, it's just that there never is enough of it.

Men find women most attractive when they are 23, and that doesn't change much as men get older according to  a 2010 study.
Women, on the other hand, change the age they prefer men to be as they age themselves, generally finding men the same age or slightly older more attractive.

Well this should work out well.

According to a study... Is it just me, or is the link to that study flat out missing?

My purely anecdotal study conflicts with most of those numbers, I wonder if The Sun will publish my study as well?

I've long since surrendered any notion that my age is working to my benefit.

That said, my new plan involves winning an enormous jackpot.  It's amazing how young, slim and attractive an 8-figure bank balance makes one.

Age doesn't mean much unless trying to procreate. I'm sure a lot of men would prefer Jennifer Aniston to Lena Dunham. I sure as hell prefer a bombed out and depleted Hugh Jackman to Justin Bieber or Zac Ef.

British people don't need no stinkin' studies... they dismiss scientists as 'boffins' as it is.

/Now back to our regular scheduled programming of a mum who ate something... and thought it tasted strange.

Settling down - 26
This is the age you are most likely to have met the partner you will settle with and, if you get married between 28 and 32, you are less like to divorce.

Well lucky me. We always worried we would get divorced. Comming from a divorced family makes you about 50% likely to get divorced yourself. And we both had divorced parents! Even worse, differences in drinking habits also increase divorce chances by 50% and she drinks and I don't! So we are up to 150% already!

Luckily we got married right in the middle of that range. So we get a little nudge down and are now only 120% likely to split. Well that is a relief.

Life satisfaction - 23

Uh, No.

2017-03-19 01:37:44 PM
Based on my own experience a person can be just as fit at 40 as they are at 20. The difference is not one of fitness but of recovery time. When I was 20 I would put in 60 miles of training a week like I was knifing butter. Oh hell no, not at 40. If I ran a marathon it was a month before I felt fully recovered again. After 40 it gets harder and harder to keep up the intensity; injuries become more problematic and take longer to heal. You realize that "working out" is just a fancy name for abuse because you are tearing your body apart and rebuilding it again and again. It is taxing. That's the difference. The difference is not one of absolute fitness but one of paying a higher price for the same outcome.

If you honestly thnk the best times of your life are over, they are.
If think they're ahead of you, they are (and you'll probably be happier).

A life should be lived uniquely - not tied to the average age for a given event. Sure, there are commonalities in the human experience. But fundamentally - each life should be lived for its own highs and lows, for every great memory, and for every defining moment.

The teens were innocent, and so was I
The 20s were amazing, just wish I could remember more of them
The 30s were great, especially the early 30s.  There's something about being in your early 30s that's very liberating...you feel like you're finally "in" your life, you're not trying to get to it anymore
The 40s come with best-ever physical fitness level, but a diminished mental capacity to retain new information.  Or maybe it's a matter of not following trends because one is still in the grip of earlier trends

They explain it in the words in TFA.... Women tend to always find men of about their own age/a little older most attractive.

Men, whether 19 or 91, tend to find 23 year olds most attractive.

Top fitness for me was early 20s, peak looks were early 30s, most contented by the mid 40s.

Absorbing new info in my 40s may not be any more difficult than it ever was, but it's definitely less appealing than ever. It's not because I'm wedded to old trends, so much as I'm tired of trends in general.

I no longer want to be challenged, and I like surprises even less than I used to.

Basically I want to cruise from here on out, exerting myself only enough to pay for those things that bring me comfort and pleasure.

And this is why I chose The Homosexual Lifestyle.  I find other men slightly older than me to be the hottest.  Twentysomethings climbing my damn leg srsly and I'm just not interested.  They're all messes.

The times I've been happiest were times of hard work and challenge. The quiet times leave me listless, aimless, and boring. It took me 42 years to learn that about myself, and at 43 I'm still realigning my life with that revelation.

I can believe this. OTOH, in my experience, far fewer guys in their 20s have the time & flexible schedule to do 60-mile weeks (unless they're world-class runners, in which case, they're probably doing 100+ miles anyway). My running club's membership is very sparse on the under-35s of either sex, especially doing marathon training.

//I'm in my 40s, and have been distance running for about 10 years.

So basically if you expect to live to 120 or so, (a fairly reasonable idea, given modern medical science) you're screwed.

Guys are gonna spend the biggest proportion  of their lives being old & alone, attracted to women who prefer younger guys.

Interesting...

But life peaks at 25, seriously?
