Well, Empire Strikes Back is widely considered to be the best movie of the original trilogy, so that's pretty faint praise.

Personally, I think this has The Phantom Menace written all over it. Call it The Phantom Martha.

Are we just making up movies now? Next you are going to tell me that there is a whole trilogy of Star Wars movies set prior to A New Hope.

A collection of random plot elements from two or three half-conceived future films, along with a dose of self-plagiarism from successful past films, salted with naked toy-promotion, all jammed together under contractual pressure to get a film--any film--to market on schedule, resulting in a rickety and thematically inconsistent jumble almost totally reliant on audience goodwill built up in previous films?

Yeah, that's about what I'm expecting.

I tried to watch Rogue One last night for the first time and turned it off after about a half hour. My 11 & 9 yr old girls were completely uninterested (despite loving TFA) and I didn't find any reason I wanted to press on. Probably won't watch it until someone else gives me a good reason.

That's what bugged me the most about The Dark Knight.

In Batman begins, you have it perfectly set up with the fear gas and everyone seeing him as a giant bat with glowing eyes whiles he's saving the city, seen by enough people to establish doubts as to whether he's just some guy, or a creature, or something else.

Next movie, all forgotten, he's just "some guy in a suit," who needs to turn himself in. He might as well be called "Armored Suit Man."

"Arriving in November 2017, the various storylines and characters that American director Zack Snyder has been crafting since 2011's "Man of Steel" will finally come together in "Justice League." "

It is only the 4th movie. The idea that there is a plethora of story threads that are being drawn together is absurd.

Half the team has yet to appear on film or say a line of dialogue.

What I was going to say before My fat thumbs hit add comment was, they probably took the "coolest" scenes from part 1 and 2 mergered them into one incomprehensible three hour film and than added the rape from Identity Crisis, because Snyder loves rape, and that "mature" story telling.

I really don't understand why people have a problem with it. K-2SO is 100% CGI, and he's in 90% of the movie.

Don't focus on the problems with the human face CGI, and instead focus on the idea that she's Princess Leia in the Tantive IV on her way to Tatooine to fetch Obi-Wan Kenobi. That's cool! Who cares if she looks a little "off"?  So what?! Maybe the lighting on the bridge of the Tantive IV is weird. Maybe she just had an alien facial. It doesn't matter. It's farking Leia Organa, daughter of the bad-ass who just hacked his way through everyone, who happens to be a bad-ass in her own right.

I've seen her animated on Rebels. I've seen her coked-up on the Star Wars Holiday Special (she looked less real on that than she did in Rogue One, in fact). I've seen her with a wookiee's hand on her tit. I've seen her in a metal bikini. I've seen her old. She will never not be cool.

Same for Tarkin... He will never not be cool. Guy Henry did an amazing job playing him, and so what if the Tarkin make-up is digital rather than being made of silicone, foam rubber, and paint? There was still a great actor giving a great performance as Wilhuff Tarkin there.

People need to stop whining about digital makeup in movies. If you weren't staring at every crease and wrinkle on the character and instead were paying attention to the movie, the performance under the makeup, and the dialogue, you wouldn't be so focused on this "uncanny valley" concern.

Every movie hero with a mask or helmet has to spend 90% of his time with it off, citing that "audiences can't identify with a man in a mask" forgetting Darth Vader or V for Vendetta. Or any number of luchadors

No, it's pretty bad with a few cool scenes in it.  The lead actress wasn't very good either.  She had two modes of acting in the film - glaring ahead, semi angered or glaring ahead, semi nauseous.

If Leia had done anything interesting or contributed to the movie in any way, people probably would have been fine with it, just as most people were completely fine with Tarkin and aren't likely to mention it as an issue with the film unless someone brings it up first.  There was, essentially, a reason for Tarkin to be there, he was part of the plot and was moving the pieces on the board etc.

Leia, though, added nothing to the plot and did nothing.  Her appearance was literally only for "hey, look, it's Leia" purposes.

It's a bit silly to get on people's case for looking at something that exists literally only to be a visual reference.  There is nothing else in the scene to think about, focus on, or make note of, other than the one piece of CGI.  That's the point at which the fact that it's farking terrible becomes relevant... I mean, the AT-ATs looked like baby's first CGI, too, and the only complaint about them was that it made no sense to defend your island base with water no more than thirty feet from any given point with land vehicles instead of boats.  Audiences are fully willing to accept cartooned in stuff as placeholders if there's a reason for it to be there.

Those are extremely valid points and I completely agree with them. I was just more miffed about the amount of people who know that Batman is Bruce Wayne. I mean hell look in the trailer for this movie for the best example.

"Hello I'm actually Batman would you like to join my team?"

In the Suicide Squad movie basically everyone knew he was Batman.

I'd love to see a comprehensive list of all the people in the movies who know who Batman's "Secret" Identity is.
