Using a billboard as corporal punishment tool sounds really harsh.

Unless the person being punished is really fat, I guess...

2017-03-19 03:10:17 AM
Spanking in Hell is rather pointless, so ya, I'm good with a ban.

2017-03-19 03:14:12 AM
Spanking just desensitizes the kids to that whole ''awaiting what is to come'' dread, which adds all the flavour to Human Sacrifices and just defeats the whole purpose of the thing,

2017-03-19 03:18:41 AM
A billboard is a bit too large to effectively use for corporal punishment.  I mean, how would the principal even swing it?

Human sacrifice you're dead, gone, nothing to worry about then.

Yeah, saw this earlier. Thought it was funny that it says "never get hit in school again. Exercise your religious rights." I mean, considering that Satan's only commandment was "Do as you will."
Did the Church of Satanism pick up some Shriner dogma or something? Or are they suggesting a preemptive strike?

WTF schools still use corporal punishment?

I remember getting threatened with physical abuse from the teacher/principle when I was at school, thanfully they never actually did it.  BUT in yeah 3 I got done for cheating on a test (had written the X tables in the inside sleeve of my book.  I thought everything went ok, until the deputy head and I returned to the class and he grabbed me and spanked me in front of the class.  I should have killed him.

Smacking a kid with a billboard seems unnecessarily cumbersome.

Why not just beat children with the bible like normal people do?

Many are just contrarians (looking at you, Farkers, you'd understand), some just love the trolling, most of these two serve a purpose in mind, such as keeping the separation of state and church or supporting freedom of speech.
Then you get the aloof people who are just drawn because it is something different and/or might be drawn to the "evilness".
Last but not least, people who are actually evil, and really do want to "Do as thou wilt."
The latter don't stay when they disagree with not infringing on other people or harming other people for their own benefit.

Children and the elderly are the most discriminated against groups in the world. It isn't currently fashionable among the beautiful people to give a hoot; so we don't hear about it much.

Pointy Tail of Satan: The Satanist => atheist is, as they say in mathematics, non-communicative. Because atheist is not equal to Satanist.

I self identify as an atheist satanist, and from my perspective, the literary and mythological figures of Satan that have cropped up in various cultures throughout history are expression of a psychological archetype. Being a Satanist is the process of exploring and cultivating that aspect of my personality, for the purpose of achieving the stuff I want in life.

You can see there is no need for deities of any kind in this system, although it doesn't rule them out either. As far as I'm concerned, satanism isn't meant to answer more than a few basic metaphysical questions, and god isn't one of them.

See my earlier comment.  It is still practiced in rural areas (think Southern Bible Belt States) where it's on the books because stanch proponents believe it is effective and help maintain discipline.

Executions are not human sacrifices.

Even Theo-political ones. Stonings in Muslim nations aren't human sacrifices either.

I've been a card-carrying atheist member of the Satanic Temple for years. I checked them out because I thought it would be a fun joke, but their organizing principles really are things I deeply agree with. Satan isn't a being we worship, he's just a symbolic figure who stands for challenging authority and prioritizing knowledge over obedience.

But I do like the ways the Temple spends my money.

Well, his name literally means "something trivial or foolish," so maybe being taken seriously isn't his main goal. I don't know, it's hard to tell just by judging a name.
