The internet is amazing. I load up TF, I see the newsflashes, I head to Wikipedia and check his page. No indication he's dead. Five seconds later I refresh the page, and boom, date of death added.

Maybe no one person invented Rock and Roll, but if one person did, it was Chuck Berry.

They're really mourning in Boston.
In Pittsburgh, P. A.
Deep in the heart of Texas.
And 'round the Frisco Bay.
All over St. Louis.
And down in New Orleans.

Yeah, he was in my dead pool this year. I mentioned him in a few other threads as one of the people 2016 didn't take.

RIP, CB!

Oddly, of all the great music he made... it was "Cottage for Sale" from "Hail! Hail! Rock 'n' Roll" that always just ripped me up for some reason. Seemed to me like a couple minutes of the real person.

Sometimes flawed, but always a great American original.

90 is a good run, and Chuck was no saint, but I'm heartbroken that he's gone.

It's truly the end of an era.

The father of rock and roll is gone.  Damn.

Mr. Berry once told me that the best part about dating a homeless girl was that you could drop her off anywhere.

A few years ago, I saw Chuck Berry play a a free outdoor show.  Chuck put on a good show for someone in his 80s.
Twisted Sister opened and while I'm not saying they don't have a lot of songs, but they played I'm Not Gonna Take It twice.

I saw nickelback, long story:

They played a song from the Spider-Man soundtrack twice, back to back. Giving the people what Imthey want?

Surprising this didn't warrant the News Flash tag; yes, Chuck was 90, but without him, Elvis would have been a retired Army sergeant and nothing more, John Lennon would probably be alive but anonymous, and Mick Jagger's lips would be known only for spouting economic facts.
