The difference between a standard computer and a supercomputer is that the former operates on million instructions per second (MIPS) while a supercomputer runs on floating-point operations per second (FLOPS).

Yeah, but can it reverse entropy?

UberDave: Yeah, but can it reverse entropy?

Locally, sure. Your body does it constantly already, albeit imperfectly.

Difficulty: you will have to eat, sleep and poop exactly when and how the supercomputer tells you.

The kid in that video looks like the end boss in a pro fishing game.

Omg, I couldn't have lost more IQ if a horse kicked me in the face than when I read that sentence.

You might live 10 years longer...but you won't enjoy it.

I'm no computer scientist, and even I can smell that horseshiat.

Ok i hardly ever click on the video but I did that time because of your post.  That is pretty funny.

That freaked me out when I was a little kid.  Thanks for reminding me.

That's a load of bullshiat, and frankly no thanks. I first heard Ray Kurzweil blathering on about "The Singularity" two decades ago. It seems just as outlandish now as it did then, and just as foolish. A step in that direction is a step in the wrong direction.

The hard truth is that people (self included) get old, stagnate, and need to die so that a new generation can move forward. If old people run the world, you wind up with idiots like Donald Trump in charge.

To put it another way, there's a tradeoff between the vitality of youth and the wisdom of age that no human technology could account for -- let alone solve. Our innate flaws make us human.

You could easily add thirty or more years to that geek's lifespan by giving him better glasses and a make-over.

Scientists need to learn how to add ten years to your life in your twenties or thirties. Not when you are eighty or ninety.

For this we are going to need new numbers, so the supercomputer connection makes sense.

Insufficient data for meaningful answer.
