Plus they do well in underpaying and overworking their employees and relying on customers who don't care that there's only one register open for about 4 registers available.

My idea of hell is moving to a town with only 2 places to shop, a Dollar General and Tractor Supply Company while suffering from a gypsy curse that prevents suicide.

The two closest stores to my house are  a Dollar General 2 miles down the road one way, and a Dollar General 2 miles down the road the other way. I don't shop at either one.

I've lived there! It was as bad as you imagine! (Okay, actually there was technically a gas station and a really weird family-owned grocery as well as a gift shop attached to the one restaurant there, and there was also a place that never seemed to be open but supposedly was in business that seemed to have nothing but flowerpots and stolen road signs for sale.)

At the rate they've been building Dollar Generals, they should be in a position to achieve Total World Domination any day now.

/Dollars General?

No kidding.  I live "way out in the sticks" and there are two Dollar General stores ~ 5 miles from my house.  Seems upper management felt remote locations are an underserved and untapped market since the offerings of the local bait store/gas station are limited and pricey.  I did have to make an emergency food run one weekend to a Dollar General as I didn't want to make the 18 mile drive to the grocery store, and I was pleasantly surprised the two items I had to buy weren't obscenely marked up.  The prices were in-line with what I would have paid at the grocer.

Thats funny.  Bc last time i went to the ol DG i was in my plaid polo pj pants.  Fitting that their door at the time was a cheap closet door installed within a plywood wall bc of the smash-and-grab the wk before.
