Anyone who refuses to believe that Donnie is a petty, vindictive asshole, here's your proof.

Also, so much for claims of him being a fantastic businessman.

No, this is anecdotal junk that may have some elements of truth to it.

The proof that he's a petty, vindictive asshole is far better documented, and in our faces daily.  And as for claims he's a good business man, losing to the market during his entire adult life is proof enough that he sucks.  He started ahead of 99.99999% of people on planet Earth, and managed to lose ground.

If it brings out young voters all vindictive? We might end up with a House full of pacifistic socialist gay Muslims of Syrian descent.

And they will all be mocking Trump for using Twitter instead of Snapchat or whatever.

The most I've seen suggested he inherited is 200 million, which likely is higher than the truth.  If he is worth 201 million he hasn't lost ground.  There's so much to bag on the guy for, stuck to things based in fact.

Doesn't inflation mean he has lost ground if he only has 201 after receiving 200 40 years ago?

That's not how inflation works.  Having 201 million in 2017 would be like having 44 million in 1975.  It's akin to losing money.

Okay, you're right.  However it would be around 800 million.  Does anyone doubt he is worth that much?  He's not worth the 4 or 5 billion he claims, but a billion?  Probably.

I highly doubt he's worth 800 million.  All of his assets have so much debt tied to them that I doubt his valuation is anywhere close to even $500 million.  He plays rich.

I've seen analysis that says that if Trump had simply parked the $200M his daddy left him in a S&P 500 Index fund and left it there, he'd be far wealthier than he is now.

Note I said "lost to the market".  What this means is that if someone dropped all of their money into the stock market (a peanut butter styled index spread), they'd have more money today than Trump has from all of his business dealings and investments over the same time period.

That's the mark of a shiatty business man.  Someone who is good will be well ahead of the market in wealth management and growth.  Not only is he not average to the market, he's terrible.  Having a large pot to begin with historically gives you amazing advantage in wealth growth.  He took $200 million and managed to create worse returns than a comparable middle income guy with a flexible 401k.

This is the reason he claims upwards of $8B - $10B in wealth, which is clearly not even in the ballpark of where he sits.  If he doesn't, it marks him as being "not the best".  Reality marks him as being below average.

It's a bit of a false dichotomy, because no one in their right mind puts all their money into equities.  Also, if you have that much money, it's more about capital preservation, so a 50% allocation in fixed income wouldn't be out of the question.

For an active entrepreneur focused on wealth growth through new opportunities, real estate development, and capitalizing on markets, you should be able to significantly outpace general stock indices on a long timeline if you're even mildly competent. Trump has had most of his life with his significant wealth, and has lost to the market.

Given he started with his wealth debt free, unlike most entrepreneurs who have to borrow or acquire venture capital, he should be miles ahead.  His wealth and credit were unencumbered, and he created a household name that was known by 99% of domestic people by the end of the 1980s.  And he's lost ground.

It's inexcusable, and it demonstrates he's a terrible businessman.  Not good, not even average.  Terrible.

You should?  Really?  Because no, that's not true at all.

Also you're conflating company profit with his own general wealth.  If he's the primary shareholder of these businesses then he's going to suck out as much money as he can before showing earnings (esp. considering the ludicrous corporate tax rate in the USA).  And it's clear that he had his kids as shareholders, so they also had money funneled to them.  I'm sure there was a trust or 10 being filled up too.

You're also assuming he invested all that money, when maybe he only used $100 million, and the rest was put into savings.

Biggest boy band in the world gets kicked out of a hotel and it didn't make news at the time? Odd. Especially when you consider there's a 100% chance that the hotel was camped out by crazed teenage girls who also didn't notice them being frog marched out of the hotel.

Yes, it is.  Trump (and family) privately own the entire brand and company structure.  Their company IS their personal wealth, and they state it that way.  When you're dealing with Trump, personal wealth and company worth are one and the same.  They're not shareholders of a public stock.

And when evaluating entrepreneurs, it's is absolutely the best benchmark to evaluate them based on how they transform money.  Whether they inherit it, got venture capital, or borrowed to start their enterprise(s), you value their achievement based on the growth of that capital over time.  Trump took $200+M and turned into a value less than that money would have made in the open market over the same period.

He did a hell of a job building a brand that gets others to buy in and lose their money under his name, so much of the wealth he controlled stayed protected.  But in the end, the enterprise he built has trailed the market.  We have to stop short of calling him a total failure, as the enterprise still has strong value.  But it's growth cannot even be called "good" by any measure.
