skyotter: I don't remember a damn thing about that movie, except for that line.
GungFu: It should be the Unlikely tag since Art Buchwald died years ago.

Hot Water Burn Baby: Timely.
amb: That movie traumatized me. Back in 1989, my family was taking a trip to Germany, Austria, and France. My dad was doing European delivery of a BMW, so we first were flying to Munich. We left from New Orleans to JFK no problem. Second flight was to Paris for a connection to Munich. As we neared France, we found out that Orly was fogged in, so couldn't land there. De Gualle was also out due to fog. No suitable field in France was available, after circling Paris for over an hour, we were diverted to London. However, we were not permitted to disembark there. Our flight was not cleared for the UK (pre EU). So we sat on the tarmak at Heathrow for 8 hours. We ran out of food and drinks on the plane. Bathrooms filled up. What did the crew do to entertain us, they replayed the in flight movie several times. It was Coming to America. I liked the movie when I saw it with friends at the movie theater. I enjoyed seeing it again on the flight, before the delay at least. I think they played it 6 times total. I watched it in French a couple times, although I don't speak it. Finally they refuel the plane enough to finish the flight to Paris. Got a brief window of visibility and were able to go. We were supposed to arrive in Paris before 8:00 AM, but got in after 9:00 PM. Now we had to get new flight to Munich. Somehow we were able to get a flight and get to Munich. Cab driver didn't understand us and took us to the wrong hotel. It was 2:00 AM, but luckily wrong hotel had vacancy. It just wasn't the fancy hotel BMW booked for us. Rest of the trip went well except for the skiing. Not a good year for snow in Austria. Lots of rocks exposed on the piste. Now whenever I stumble across the movie on cable, I quickly change the channel.
Alphax: Coming to America and The Golden Child were probably Eddie's best movies. However, I don't see how you make a sequel of it. His wife dies, so he Comes to America Again?
MaudlinMutantMollusk: What are they gonna call it, Came On America?
grokca: I predict that this will have Pluto Nash levels of comedy.
farkingismybusiness: stonelotus: farkingismybusiness: [img.fark.net image 500x294]when you think "or" garbage?Don't blame me. I don't make my own memes or wipe my own ass.
Boudyro: I like both of those movies, but no. Not in a world where 48 hours, Trading Places, and BHC1 exist. And the Golden Child's effects REALLY didn't hold up.
Evil-Imposter: Alphax: Coming to America and The Golden Child were probably Eddie's best movies. However, I don't see how you make a sequel of it. His wife dies, so he Comes to America Again?I'd bet you anything it has something to do with his son this time.
Two Dogs Farking: . Although the scene at the Jewish barbers' is an all-time classic.
Boudyro: And the Golden Child's effects REALLY didn't hold up.
Herbie555: Boudyro: And the Golden Child's effects REALLY didn't hold up.No, but most the jokes do. And Charles Dance is ALWAYS a great villain.Mrs. Herbie555 and I still quote TGC at each other at least weekly.
