With a 'five second delay' of course...

That's actually kind of cool for us in the west

martissimo: That's actually kind of cool for us in the west

Since Saturday nights are dead on broadcast TV anyway, they might as well make it a permanent change.

The April 8th show with Louie C.K. and The Chainsmokers will not be live in all time zones.

These 4 will:
April 15 - Jimmy Fallon/ TBD
(Then 3 weeks of repeats, I guess)
May 6 - Chris Pine/TBD
May 13 - Melissa McCarthy/TBD
May 20 - The Rock/TBD

I would have been more impressed if the cast were doing the show in the round, seven times, on one-hour offsets.

Fallon: Could be good only because he knows how SNL works and may bring in some other veterans (e.g., Fey).
Pine: Not too optimistic.
McCarthy: Usually does well (her Spicer rules of course), but still a bit overrated IMO.
Johnson: Has the right energy and is usually game for anything. Should be good.

Kinda wish they were ending with Louis C.K.

I hope the musical acts are good. A lot of them have been awful recently.

BBC: America has Planet Earth 2 and Graham Norton on Saturdays. So there's that.

This... I mean, Saturday primetime is pretty much just reruns of shows earlier in the week anyway, and an old SNL at 10pm usually.

Although, doesn't this mess up Mountain?

Pacific works fine:
8pm - Let local station show whatever half hour syndicated show they want
8:30pm - SNL Live
10pm - "Classic SNL"
Then local news and they can "rerun" the SNL at its "normal time" at 11:30pm

AFAIK, Mountains "prime time" is the same as Central (7-10pm), and the "live" SNL would be starting at 9:30pm their time.  Unlike Pacific, which actually is a 3 hour delay, right now Mountain is only a 1 hour delay anyway.   So, now the local NBC's local news will be on an hour later on Saturdays, which I guess is just like when they have a sporting event or awards show go long anyway.  But, it is affecting only a 1/2 hour of the "prime time" anyway, the bigger change is for their local news.

The Rock is usually amazing. About as good as Timberlake or Martin.

/Not sure how the female cast will put up with Louis C.K.'s harassment.

wow that's pretty cool.  i grew up on the west coast time zone so i've only ever known the show to come on at 1030/1130 (california during DST).

it was kinda weird to see it live on the east coast.  i heard Norm McDonald say "what the fark was that?" live.

antoher weird one was being *in* NYC and watching it live (well, on tv live, not live in person(.  Believe......hmmmmmm.....Winona Ryder and Moby (?) were the host/music.  we trie to get tickets but of course didn't.  very, very, very tough ticket to get.  we took the NBC studios tour earlier that day and got to see 8H.  amazing how small it all is.  it's just the music stage, the middle (main) stage, and another one, with eh seats in a horseshoe around it.  it's a fairly small footprint.

anyways...

This has been alleged for years now.  I'm surprised no one's falcon punched him.

My thought as well. Could always get a Cena cameo again for Trump preparing himself only to turn into James Ellsworth for the head to head.

We can only hope they will do it but there's almost no chance they won't do a skit with rock Obama.

The Rock Obama laying the smack down on Trump for the wiretapp allegations would be worth it.

Yeah, I agree with both of these things.
You never know, though.

I admit I stopped watching SNL a LONG time ago. I've seen a few brief bits of the Trumperdink crew and found them intolerable. Considering how disgusting the originals are, the parodies have to try too hard.

The whole gimmick of SNL being live television has never actually been a thing for anyone in the western half of the country.  It's always been recorded.

For the first time, it's name will be accurate for many people.

It feels like this is solely about being able to throw ratings numbers like an insult at the Administration.

What are the chances Mr Obama himself might show up for the episode with The Rock?

I picture an Oval Office setting where the presidential chair is turned around, facing away from the audience, then at the right moment it spins around and there's Mr. 44.
