Trainspotting was a great film that I would never want to watch again.

/actually there was a pretty hot pixie girl but she doesn't make up for the baby crawling on the ceiling

Trainspotting 2 has gotten pretty solid reviews overall. So I would imagine if you liked the first one, you won't be wasting your time with the second one.

If you hated the first one? Stay away and shut the fark up about it.

Trainspotting is an excellent flick, but I think it stands well enough on its own, without a sequel.  Great ending, why ruin it?

It's a movie about life choices, not a Transformers franchise.

Looking forward to it.

Begbie didn't do drugs. He just did sequels

When I saw Trainspotting in the theater, my GF and I had brought Taco Bell bean burritos in to eat while we watched the film.

Really bad move. Really bad.

If I recall, the trailer looked like they just replayed scenes from the first...   just watch the first

I thought the same but gave the book a shot and it was a very solid story. Not as good as Trainspotting but it definitely didn't ruin anything.

I still haven't read the prequel but that is supposed to be good as well.

It is. You know that Renton ends up becoming a junkie but there's still parts in the book where you're getting frustrated with him because he could made different choices.

Perhaps this time they won't be so stupid as to put Hibs fan Renton in maroon trainers.

It came out here mid-February, and I saw it immediately. I'm a huge fan of Trainspotting, and really liked T2. Went with a couple friends who'd never seen the original, and they enjoyed it as well. They missed some of the underlying jokes and references to the first, but it evidently stands on its own.

But yeah, I re-watched Trainspotting soon after. It's held up, for sure.

The original movie came out in 1996, after more than a decade of economic growth, yellow "power" ties, and dot.com billionaires.

Uh, the dot.com bubble didn't really even START until 1996.

It's a pity that of the five guys in the original, it was the straight and narrow Tommy who got it the worst of any of them. He should have just forgot about Lizzy.

But he made a hell of a comeback in Rome.
