I honestly haven't even thought about the WBC.

Sorry, if you don't like the WBC, you're just not a baseball fan.

Roger that. I had not paid much attention to the WBC until this year. I think it is very cool, and a much needed break from basketzballzz (of all denominations).

For me, what is really cool is to see all of the players on their "home teams". It really is like the World Series.

Anywho, and not that you asked but, Go Giants!

It's all fun and games until some of the best MLB players get injured right before the season starts.

/not that I don't like it, but MLB fans will get turned off pretty quick if this impacts their seasons

That's just being unused to actual international play. Injuries happen. Soccer (and I'm pretty sure hockey as well) fans just accept the risk and enjoy the match-ups that can happen.

..that said, they DO need to tighten up their tiebreaking rules. I totally get Mexico's complaint.

That happens literally every year in regular old spring training games (or even practices). In fact, it probably happens more often in regular spring training, since they play more often.

WBC has been pretty awesome this year. It's a playoff atmosphere and most games have been very close.

I've always had something against it, because the very first year they held it, they called it "The World Baseball Classic."

How the fark can you call something a "classic" the first time you hold it?  Or the second?  I mean, that's pretty pretentious and stupid.

FTFA: "Gonzalez, a veteran of four WBCs, said he won't play in any more"

A-Gon - That's because you'll be 38 and Mexico will want you playing first about as much as Canada wanted Ryan Dempster pitching.

I guess he'll be A-gone from future World Baseball Classics.

Funny, I haven't thought about Adrian Gonzalez in a long time.

The only beef I have with the WBC is, why March? Why not July right after the All Star Game?  I mean, if MLB is serious about this becoming a thing, they can give up 2 weeks of games to stage it then, even if it means more 2nd half doubleheaders (which should be something they bring back anyhow)...

Stopping your regular season for an international tournament requiring only a handful of players is a terrible idea, as the NHL has learned with the Olympics

Also its not just MLB. They needed a window that worked out for the various other leagues that participate, like NPB, Cuba, Korea, etc. March was the best for all parties involved.
