(Daily Mail)   Google expert says that by 2029, human brains will fuse with robotics to create super humans. Well, only in some people. Adding robotics to the brains of most people will create super-idiots   ( dailymail.co.uk) divider line

He's got serious tech pedigree but goes way over the deep end by combining that experience with an overwhelming fear of death. It's the Dunning-Kruger effect in play. http://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Dunning-Kruger_effect

I think, and my thoughts cross the barrier into the synapses of the machine - just as the good doctor intended. But what I cannot shake, and what hints at things to come, is that thoughts cross back. In my dreams the sensibility of the machine invades the periphery of my consciousness. Dark. Rigid. Cold. Alien. Evolution is at work here, but just what is evolving remains to be seen.

The Warrior's bland acronym, MMI (Mind Machine Inteface), obscures the true horror of this monstrosity. Its inventors promise a new era of genius, but meanwhile unscrupulous power brokers use its forcible installation to violate the sanctity of unwilling human minds. They are creating their own private army of demons.

I love that they say when, but rarely say how.

Or why.

Dead people w/o families downloaded into semi-autonomous robots because its cheaper than creating functional AIs and its easier to control a person than a potentially rebellious AI mind that we don't really understand.  So companies will have dead people declared some kind of commodity that they can buy and use as property.

That's my guess anyway.

I imagine that's the only way most Trump supporters will ever get their coal mining jobs back.

Some of us are already superhuman without machines. Will we become Super Duper Humans?

There is no way you can use an actual sentient being in that way without it being declared slavery.

Making a functional and specific intelligent agent is a much more realistic than being able to "download" a brain. Hell, we don't even know what our consciousness is and how to even begin to download it.. do we scan all the synapses and make a direct copy while destroying the original because physics? Or will we discover some previously unknown effect that is beyond our current realm of understanding?

I think scanning a brain will be possible, but it will destroy whatever information is read. That will eventually make it possible to read memories and have a backup of someone... which is full of ethical problems, what with privacy and all that. Will your memories become public domain 50 years after you died? What about copies? Will there be a legal distinction between the physical you and your memories?

Just the ethics of this freaks me out, and that's not even addressing the obvious technological problems that get handwaved away with Nanotech and Artificial Intelligence
