My CSB: I worked in a record shop with Daniel Ash's best mate in the 1980s.

Then again, everyone who was a teenager in the 1980s in Northampton has a Bauhaus CSB

The Bauhaus will forever be a great for me because of their influence on my favorite band ever: Jane's Addiction

I have seen a lot of bands. Love & Rockets were probably the worst live act I have ever seen.

I saw LOVE AND ROCKETS in 1986 at Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas. (where Sex Pistols were beat up)

One of the best shows I have ever seen. Sound quality was superb and band played tight. David J and Daniel Ash sometimes fooled around and sang each others parts.

They opened with a spirited cover of PINK FLOYD "Lucifer Sam"
They played EVERY song from "Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven" and "Express"

There was no stupid stage banter. They never addressed the audience. They just played and played very VERY well with no pauses or hesitation.

I saw them in the late 90s, your experience was the total opposite of mine. They didn't seem to want to be there. The playing was not much better than the Bela Legosi's Dead era where they could barely play their instruments at all.  One similarity: they totally ignored the audience.

Seems fairly dumb to tour as that and play anything other than Tones on Tail or new stuff. If David J were along, that'd be a huge difference. They could at least do Love & Rockets faithfully, and most of Burning from the Inside  (which was practically a Love & Rockets album, anyway). But nothing else from Bauhaus. Without Murphy, what's the point?

CSB: I was a huge fan of the comic LOVE & ROCKETS and later the band...and in the days before the internet. so had been curious which came first...the comic or the band (the Comic).
back in 1991 I got the chance to hang out with Jaime and Gibert Hernandez for a bit at a convention...just kind of shooting the shiat...and really wanted to ask...but was afraid to come off as to fanboyish...fortunetly some other fanboy came along and asked on their own.
Jaime's answer was essentially "Someone working for Daniel Ash contacted us through our publisher and said 'We're huge fans of the comic, we'd like to name our new project Love & Rockets, and wanted to consult you first'. We just told them 'Well, we kind of wish you wouldn't...but we didn't want to be assholes about it' "

anyways...  I saw Love & Rockets the band in the late 80's...and then Bauhaus in the late 90's at the BroncoBowl before it was torn down....both good solid shows.
but now...I'm kind of unenthused about seeing bands in their 50's/60's/70's  performing live...for similar reasons why I stopped wearing my piercings now that I'm in my mid-40's.

Such terrible showtimes, 8pm on a weeknight, two hours away.  :(

Protip: Adding Tones on Tail's "Real Life" to the end of the Strange Days soundtrack (which I suspect many people ITT would enjoy) brings the whole thing together like The Dude's rug. It's the perfect counterpoint to Lords of Acid's "Real Thing"

Sadly, fretless extraordinaire and all-around lovely guy, Mick Karn, passed away  a few years back. I will be happy to apply his fretless influence on me and join with Peter Murphy for anything involving Dali's Car. PM me Peter!

Weird synchronicity. I was listening to Peter Murphy a few minutes ago, and Japan yesterday. And I have a Stick too. :)

Saw all three bands in the 80's so I'll keep those memories intact and not pollute em with old-man versions of my former heroes.

We should have a Fark Stick party at NAMM next year in conjunction with Stick Night. I'd be surprised if we didn't know about each other.

I love the circle of musicians swirling around the King Crimson Universe: Mick, David Sylvian. David Torn, Steven Wilson, Sakamoto, Jennifer Maidman, Isham

Farkstick, eh? :)

You would not know about me, I am a nobody. I am also more of a Stick owner than a Stick player. Though I enjoy playing it and it has showed up on a few of my recordings, I am far from proficient at it.

They are playing ONE (1, uno,  o-n-e-t-y) Bauhaus song, and it's off Burning From The Inside.

tip of the hat to 2-backwards-bass-tracks "Artemis"   Karn was no joke.

Maybe it was a bad night, but Love and Rockets is the only live concert that I've ever fallen asleep during. Loved seeing Bauhaus and also Peter Murphy solo a few times. Not sure what it was with Love and Rockets though, I like the songs, the show put me to actual sleep.
