Looking forward to an epic Turtle Day.
(psst...Subby...to be technically correct, which is the best kind of correct, it was 301 days later. )

I was just watching the full version of the brawl a few nights ago. What an awesome night. And probably good Probert and Kocur weren't there or a coroner woulda been needed.

I may have to go back and rewatch it, especially for the flying body block from Shanny on Roy while Ozzy was getting in gear to get into it.

Makes the interview Ozzy did with Roy look so awkward a couple years ago.

I am too because I remember - will always remember - watching that game. It was the most insane sporting event I had ever seen.

I don't generally believe in violence, but there are exceptions to every rule.

Example one. A few years ago on pride weekend, my Unitarian wife was talking about the ministers sermon on the gay rights movement and how, all you need is love. I pointed out, the modern gay rights movement didn't start with the Stonewall love-in, it started with the Stonewall riots.

Example two. Detroit taking care of business against the Rockies.

Can't find a better one, but here's Shanny on his way to intercept Roy who is on his way to confront Vernon.

Now now, to be fair to Roy, he's going to rescue Lemieux from his well earned beating by McCarty.  And yeah, I forgot it was Vernon that year, Ozzy's fight was the year after.

It's rarely remembered that Kozlov started the bad blood by ramming Adam Foote's face into the glass early in the series - that could have been just as brutal as what happened to Draper, so it's good to see Draper admit as much here.  I was sorry to see Draper hurt so badly - it took away from what should have been a cleaner series between 2 skilled teams.  It's not like the Avs were trying to be the 76 Flyers or anything - they had the finesse and speed to get the job done.

Dvorsky worked that game and is still officiating.  Next time I see a MLBB ump with two hundred extra pounds I'll laugh even harder.

The late 90s era Red Wings would make for a fantastic 30 for 30 doc.

I remember watching both incidents, that was an amazing rivalry at the time.

Reminds me of 2/9/2011 (my favorite date)...

Let's not forget that McCarty scored the game winning goal.

I remember watching the brawl and LePew turtling as Draper was about the drop the hammer on him.

I was like, "As if anyone needed any more reasons to hate the son of a biatch.  He caves this guy's face in and doesn't have the balls to take his medicine."

Even Sammuelson had to take his lumps from Neely.

I've never seen a brawl like that before watching it on YouTube some years back.  I'd heard of the brawl, I'd heard of the Wings/Avs rivalry/blood feud, but I hadn't seen that brawl.

When I saw it I knew what legit hatred looked like.
