Researchers took a week to excavate the block of earth containing the skull and then two and a half years to extract the fragment from the earth. The team used ancient stone hand axes to remove the fragment

Maybe if they used modern tools, it wouldn't have taken two and a half years ...

 I propose that Fark not have a death penalty except for visiting Talos IV or referring to a non-human hominin as 6,000 years old unless that is really what the peer-reviewed science suggests and that Fark hire Mr. Teatime to deal with violators. Hide it in the terms of service.  It was sort of amazing the first zillion times, but after are few hundred bazillion reiterations....

/Though on Saturday the dating of a hominin that many will find surprisingly young will be revealed. But even it is far larger than 6000 years.
