So there are 4 parties. All are roughly tied. Bottom line is no one in the other three parties will form a coalition government with Geert so he can not win win.

That noted he is set to double his party's seats which he will call a win for the forces of white supremacist nationalists.

All I know about Dutch politics is that Geert Wilders is a hateful person who shouldn't be trusted to lead anyone. His election would continue the alt-rightwards spiral we seem to be in.

I've posted this in other threads, but my parents lived as teens under Nazi occupation.  My father, a very quiet Dane who doesn't usually discuss politics, has admitted to being very worried about the direction Europe is headed.

Hell, after Trump declared he wanted to hold big rallies, my father's only comment was "I've seen this before."

We really don't learn from the past, do we?

To be fair there would be fewer refugees if America and Europe didn't arm the Syrian resistance

That brought in the Russians

There's also France, and I don't know if Germany is also getting a rise of the right (oh dear), and then there's the idiot in Turkey, not to mention the close call from Austria.

... There's a rise in right-wing authoritarianism recently. Meanwhile Putin watches... And smiles.

The US and European nations have destabilized some of these regions in pursuit of resources. Gotta keep goods and services moving in a global economy.

Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.  Those who learn from the past are doomed to watch while everyone else repeats it.

Nobody ever learns from the past, Look at how many genocides that have occurred since WW2.  Im hoping we learned from the whole world war thing though.  Proxy wars still suck however.

But that might not be the whole story. The English-speaking media loves to take very small minorities of far-right activists and make them look like they are in control of The Narrative. And, lo behold hark, that means the far-right activists DO control The Narrative, all the time, always. So Wilders has more or less already won, if experience is to be the guide. He can't lose, because now his opinion will always be legitimated and count as the thing leaders must argue against, in order to do anything from install a stop sign to outlaw land mines. Even when Wilders loses.

The Greens went from 2% in 2012 to 11% now, as per exit polls. It will probably gain 12 seats - the biggest gain of this election.

Geert's party gained just 3 points in popularity, to 13%.
