Not all spiders are insectivores. Some are vagitarians.

I so rarely get the opportunity to use this picture in any proper context. Thanks Subby. I am sure everyone else thanks you too.

Predators gonna prey. I've always found it fascinating that a whole class of organisms is carnivorous (with a few exceptions) and mostly highly predatory.

That's kind of an ironic thing for a human to be saying about . . . just about anything.

A lot of spiders also primarily eat other spiders. Which is why you should never kill the little black and white jumping zebra spiders (Salticus scenicus) who not only will notice where humans are and go the other way, but are literally hunting for spiders in your house to jump on and kill.
/Every zebra spider I see is named Sam

So how much spider guano does that produce?

We need those phosphates man!

Without those scary little 8 legged killing machines we would be overrun in less than 5 years.

2017-03-16 08:20:20 AM
wait, so if the 1:10 energy / food chain rule holds up... there are up to 80 million tons of spiders crawling around?
I'm not sure if that's more or less than I expected. but it's 160,000,000,000 pounds of spiders

unless i did that wrong. sorry, first cup of coffee is going in now
