As a longtime O's fan, all's I can say is, f*ck.  Somebody's going to pay Machado big.  Yankees?  Dodgers?  Angels?  Angelos?  One of these things is not like the other.  So, f*ck.

As a Yankee fan, I would far prefer Machado. His defense is more valuable and he's less of an injury risk. Yanks have some nice OF prospects coming along with Judge, Frazier, and Rutherford.

As an O's fan, someone who doesn't mind the Nationals, and a yankees hater, fark all of this.

Exactly what I'm thinking

As a Jays fan, someone who doesn't mind the Nationals, and a Yankees hater, I am mildly concerned.

Wait... when is Donaldson a free agent?? Oh... well, at least we'll have Paris.

fark the Yankees.

How about you stop just buying players and just develop talent like you did with Jeter?  What do you think you are, the Knicks?

In my defense, I had the thread open forever, walked away and came back, and just forgot to reload. I'm not too lazy to go through three comments.

With as many promising prospects as they have coming down the pipeline, would they even need to get a Harper-level free agent? I'd be more in the market for a starting pitcher.

Oh I definitely agree, their rotation needs an overhaul. I was just saying that if one is picking between Machado & Harper, I would definitely go Machado.

No one in that rotation inspires much confidence after Tanaka, and who knows how long his arm will hold up. Pineda and Severino have at least shown they can be effective, but never consistently. CC is spent, and neither Green nor Warren is likely to ever be more than back of the rotation/bullpen talent.

Sorry to be a debbie downer, but the big free agent pitcher who was going to be available with Machado and Harper was Jose Fernandez.

If you sign Harper, you can trade some of the outfield talent for a starting pitcher.

(This, folks, is how you rosterbate.)

This; gimme Machado's corner D and bat instead of Harper.

As an O's fan since forever (1968), I concur.

If it has to be one or the other then it's a dilemma for Cubs fans, isn't it? Machado would probably mean they don't go after Bryant. But Cubs fans would also be happy to move Harper off an NL contender.

Better lock up Bryant just to be safe.

I'd be happier if the Yankees take Harper, getting him out of the National League.   If they could grab a couple of Cubs pitchers on their way out, that would be swell.

I think the Nats will do right by Harper and send a big f-you to the Redskins in the process.

Someone's probably going to give Arrieta $200 million for 6-7 years next winter. As a Cubs fan, I hope it's an AL team.
