Advanced ticket sales for a 'family film'... not overall. That little specific matters since it won't come close to SWTFA.

Looks like you libs are farking your chickens before they hatch. I have been assured by conservatologists that the film will bomb because decent American families do not want to have the existence of homosexuality shoved down their throats over and over again, until they are ready to gag.

Josh Gad and who is or is not gay has nothing to do it with.  My whole family (I'm talking cousins, nieces/nephews, etc) was set to go long before the news about gay LeFou ever came out.  Frankly, I could care less - I'm just going because (a) I like hanging out with my family, (b) I like Disney World and never actually say the animated Beauty and the Beast and (c) I enjoy looking at Emma Watson.

Right?  I tried to run through the list of characters before looking it up, and I wrote him off just because it seemed too obvious.  Even as a kid I could figure that one out.  I figured they'd made the clock and candelabra a couple or something.

Eh, attempts to build up a fake controversy by Disney have mostly been appropriately ignored, it's actually entirely possible he's actually not heard of this random bit of native advertising.

2017-03-15 12:47:16 PM
Parents who take their kids to Disney films ain't gonna care about this.

We now have black princesses, Mexican princesses, Polynesian princesses, Mexican boys (upcoming Coco film)... Tomorrowland movie was a lovefest to the green movement.

Basically, what i'm saying, is, parents who want Disney to babysit their kids are generally Liberals, while conservative parents take their kids hunting or ATV'ing or something.

I generally ignore remakes when the original was really good to begin with.  Hollywood out of ideas and so forth.  I'm on the fence this time because I'd sorta like to be on the giving side of stigginit for once.

Disney has really been doing an awesome job with it's live action remakes. The Jungle Book was amazing.

That's a pretty weak attempt to generate "fake" controversy. If Disney felt this film needed controversy to generate interest they would have added a scene where Belle masturbates with the candlestick or something.

Is this going to be like Disney on Ice?  Live action is usually terrible.  If it does well, we can expect Ariel, Aladdin, and everyone else to be marching through for the next 10 years in live action.

The one thing I'm not sure I will get over is the Genie without Robin Williams.

This whole re-do thing suddenly just made me sad again. :(

They already have done quite a few live action movies based on their animated films. Maleficent and Jungle Book were both awesome. I have not seen the Cinderella movie.

Even though these live action remakes tend to deviate from the animated versions a little, it's feasible they could use reuse Williams' voice.

Forgot about that!  You're right - they can be done well.  The one that really caught my attention was Ever After, though it was by someone else(?).  Maleficent and Jungle Book were ok, but didn't stick with me like Ever After (or the old cartoons).

Regarding Genie, hopefully they have better ideas than I do. I don't know how they could do it without causing a Sad.

There's something in his will that says they can't. A Disney producer said somewhere that they have tons of RW stuff that they can't use.

That's disappointing.  I really don't see who'd they get for that character that would feel right.

Well, you are perceptive that my babysitting comment WAS slipped in there to irk some people... however frankly, i personally don't actually see any problem with having Disney (or Pokemon) babysit kids.   i only said it, because that concept seems to always be invoked by people who despise Disney, so i leveraged it.

And, you might be surprised to hear this, but Disney actually acquired the Pokemon library within the last 6 months, all 20 years of the show.... Its already launched on their mobile apps, and possibly will go to the Disney XD cable channel.....  So its STILL Disney babysitting your kids!

He has a nice voice. That doesn't change that he's pretty much the worst in everything he's been in, even 1600 Penn and that feature-length Google ad with Owen Wilson.
