This woman (or is "women" more appropriate?) can barely get out of bed, so somebody is obviously bringing and preparing her food.

In the 20 years that she's been gaining weight, nobody thought to simply STOP FREAKIN' FEEDING HER SO MUCH?

She's at the mercy of her friends and family, maybe they should take some responsibility and try to help her.

I once got recruited to help move a 740+ pound woman who was being transfered out of the hospital I worked in. She was naked, spread across two hospital beds that had been strapped together in a triple room. She had a catheter tube that I can only assume connected to her but it the tube vanished under her stomach just below knee level. Her breasts were each the size of garbage sacks, her stomach could house a small family. Picture Jabba the Hutt, only more bloated and flabby and lying down. She could not lift herself whatsoever and we could not assemble a large enough crew to lift her... any part we lifted just spilled over into another part like a mostly-filled waterbed mattress. Also the gurneys (3 strapped side by side) could not support her weight in the upright position so had to be left at floor level. The solution we used was to have 4 of us crouch down between the bed(s) and gurney(s) and arch our backs while the others rolled her naked yeasty mass down this makeshift human ramp. Yeah, I was one of the lucky ramp guys.

A. Farking ridiculous. Essentially an immature adult that the state now has to subsidize, even down to the paramedics who have to move her. Wish I could get the taxpayers to wheel me around when I need to move. Gawd, two-and-a-half years ago I was a flaming liberal, but actuallky getting a real job and continuing to read shiat like this is pushing me right everyday.

What?! Can't live on $711 a month?! Goddamn I hate people like this. I'm usually pretty liberal about disability (like when someone has a stroke or something), but damn! Maybe if she found a cheaper place to live and stopped eating... I could easily live on $711 a month, a little under $400 for rent, say $150 for food, $40 for gas, and $40 for electricity. And I've still got some left over for paying my giant school tuition.

Great, now I'm pissed off.

Funny thing is that I am losing weight, but mostly it is relocating. I blame the fact that my metabolism is slowing down, and unlike in my corrupting, luxurious youth I can no longer get away with doing nothing and eating absolutely whatever I want. I'd do something about it since it is immediately beginning to make my posture relatively uncomfortable, but that would take time out of reading fark.

I'm superficial though, and it has a high ick factor. Summertime means manual labor.

i am also massive. im about 5'9 and weigh 241. and thats down from 265 a couple months ago. i too will not make excuses. i am the one that shovels food into my mouth. i may look nasty, but my boyfriend denies it. and i am able to move. as long as i can function properly, im fine. no, i cant run a 4 minute mile. ha, i probably cant even run a 30 minute mile. but if i need to walk for any amount of time, there is no problem. im not too worried. i can still move.

I hate to sound facist here...
But geez! Would our ancestors have imagined a time in which that someone who is unable to move, unable to function, and unable to freaken make money was able to live... off of the sweat of everyone else's back?! Also, as a drain to society, I have to pay part of my money to make this fat slob, a waste of space, matter, life, and vital oxygen and food, as comfortable as she can be off of everyone elses money. Now in my perfect world... people when they get to be this size are given a choice few options.

1) lose weight, and do it fast... before the bounty hunters come for you.
2) somehow become an asset not worth losing
3) learn to roll... to escape being put down.

You can't blame it on a glandular problem, genes, or McDonalds. I am fully aware of how glad problems work, how genes can contribute to obesity, and how McDonalds is just so yummy you "cant stop eating."
But! As knowing this, I know it is only a predisposition, and not a pre-determined way of life. Some people are born at risk to cancer, addictions, and all sorts of stuff. But they take initiative and DO something about it.

Fatness isnt a disease, a illness, a forced thing, or an accident. It is a plague... on society.

Well, i'm fat, but not so fat that i can't farking move. I'm 6'5 290.. my ideal weight(based on height and body frame) is 250. I'm going on the south beach diet, and a daily exercise regimin of weight lifting, running, and overall fitness as soon as school is out.

I'll post the before and after pics up on fark. should be pretty magical.

The story may not be covering all aspects. Remember, not everyone gains wait in the same way. Genetically, some are predisposed to store more fat than others (hence the hot cheerleader who eats nothing but burgers and the fat football player who eats nothing but celery).

It saddens me to see so many otherwise intelligent Farkers being so mean unnecessarily. Oh well.
