I'm sure the prosecutors will treat this case with kid gloves.

I hope so.  If the last defendant gets off, justice will have come up a little behind.

I hope this exposes Penn State to another round of civil lawsuits.

They covered up the rapes. Then they covered up the cover up.

Sue, sue, take some time off, and start suing again. Don't stop until Penn State is a low-ranked community college with no sports teams at all.

Many years ago Nebraska got homered on a call that allowed PSU to pull out a win at Happy Valley.  Then we sent Graham Spanier to Penn State.  Revenge is a dish best served cold.

I will say this again. Someone who is in their 60s just doesn't decide to start molesting kids one day. This behavior had to have gone on for decades.

Not only do they still have a team, but they're really good. They were 11-3 last season with a great QB who is still a freshman.

Penn State's problem is that they didn't hire Rec Tillerson to ruin interference for them.

It worked for the Boy Scouts Of America.

There is plenty of evidence that it did, evidence he was convicted on.  That doesn't mean that he (like may serial abusers) wasn't good at covering his tracks.  I mean he was abusing his own adopted kids!

He was most likely a victim of abuse himself, although that's not 100% correlated.  Some pedophiles are just born evil.

I just hope that the  $200+ million in fines and settlements plus felony prison sentences for at least two administrators, the successful whistleblower suit against them and whatever happens to Spanier is enough of an example to major institutions that the era of "ignore and cover up the problem for the good of the institution" is over.  Reporting has gotten better, awareness has gotten better, prevention has gotten better, but the predators are out there and this is going to happen again.

Michigan State, for instance, had that doctor that was abusing gymnasts at the school and other places as well, and they seem to have let the flag fly as soon as they found out.  Baylor University on the other hand covered up their rape problems "for the good of the program" and they seem to have gotten fried so far.

We'll see.

Those rumors floated around but there's no evidence of it.  At this point I can't imagine that if there was any actual case of that beyond Sandusky that the vics wouldn't have come forward by now.  The charity was a tool for Sandusky to gain the confidence of his victims families and promote an image of magnanimity... which is what most abusers do on some scale to get close to victims and groom them.

Bullshiat. The gymnastics coach for msu was told years ago what that creep was doing during exams. She talked at least a couple of girls into keeping it quiet.

I know.
I do know that's the way it works with any kind of abuse sometimes, but I have to wonder just what is tipping the scales for the folks who go on to abuse v those who would never do it to anyone else. Differing changes in brain chemistry, perhaps?

/saw in another thread that you do fMRIs

I do.   And, I think you are dead on.  fMRI does brain flow mapping...I've done research on chemical addicts, alcoholics, and phobias.  It is incredible how the hypothalamus responds when it hears a trigger word.  Usually, trigger words are monosyllabic and every7th word or so......when the heroin addicts hears "tar", or another trigger word...the brain floods with bright signal, mostly from blood.  Kind of like why doesn't everyone who has been exposed to alcohol become addicted...they pretty much have to have the DNA defect, and be exposed to the negative social circumstances that lead to alcoholism.  It's pretty depressing, actually...it's just a giant circle of endless abuse.
