I like Benedict Cumberbatch, but these days any time I see him cast I have to wonder if he is being cast
because he is, in fact, a decent actor or if he's being brought on by the money guys who think of him as
some sort of guarantee of 'nerd appeal', sort of like how JJ Abrams got the gig to resurrect both STAR TREK
and STAR WARS purely because studio execs have the mental capacity of a nemotode.

He's being brought on by the money guys, of course. That is ALWAYS how it works. The fact that he is a decent actor is nice, but the money guys don't actually care about that.

Personally, I think I've reached Peak Cumberbatch. The only role I've *really* enjoyed him in is "Sherlock". Not that he has been bad in other stuff, but most of his roles lately have been in weak movies. Yes, "Doctor Strange" was weak, and "Imitation Game" was...terrible, frankly. And we won't even talk about "Star Trek: Into Darkness". I liked him in "Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy", but that was a small role.

I like the guy, but he's in serious danger of being over-exposed. Though I can't blame him for taking the money and running. Maybe that's his plan? Make a pile of money while he's popular and then retire? I could respect that.

His best role to date. (Warning! Requires Flash Player [at least on desktop]. Dang it, Barry!)

Actually, the fact that he turned Star Trek INTO Star Wars made it a no brained to select him for rejuvenating the franchise

The British Actor Named After My Favorite Breakfast!

Though I'm not a TV guy, so I haven't seen all of his work, Doc Strange was his 'Nailed It' performance for me. He absolutely takes the role of Phteven Phtrange and runs with it.

Remember Snipes in the first Blade? Reynolds in the proper Deadpool? Downey with Iron Man? Some folks play a role, others are just perfect for a role. This was Bentdick's perfect casting.

The first thing that comes to mind from this picture is the scene in "Alien" where they cut the facehuggers knuckle and the acid squirts out.  I just wonder how many floors the secretions from Cher burned through after they took this picture.
