Yep, come to Germany, home of the STEEPEST ROLLER COASTER IN THE WORLD to combat your fear of roller coasters.

Don't like water?
Here get in this barrel and we'll dump ya over Niagara Falls.

Go ride Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point.

100 mph hour launch.

Vertical climb to 400 feet.

Over the top and vertical descent 90 degrees straight down reaching speeds of 100 mph again.

That should cure your fear..........or kill you.

2004-05-12 02:00:38 PM
There is nothing, NOTHING like a great roller coaster!!

The trick in overcoming your fear is to "submit" to the movement, and don't try to fight against it. Just like riding on the back of a motorcycle. Lean into the turns, don't fight against them.

Sorta like doing a headforemost swan dive off a cliff, rather that flapping and churning your arms and legs as you fall.

This is the same principle that my ex-gf used to overcome her fear of heights. She went skydiving with me.

2004-05-12 02:07:15 PM
Sadly enough, i've never been on a real rollercoaster yet in my life.

I need to get out more.

Universal tried something like this a few years ago when they opened Islands of Adventure... I don't think it went over very big or lasted too long, but it was on the local news for weeks...

/Orlando local news sucks...

I don't see how anybody can be scared of roller coasters.

They're one of God's greatest creations

2004-05-12 02:10:30 PM
I used to have a fear of rollercoasters. When my friends took me to 6 Flags I asked them to take me on the weakest rollercoaster first. like a train ride or something, to get me accustomed. So they took me to the Free Fall. 5 story straight drop. It was NOT fun. I was pissed at them. but I rode the rest of the rollercoasters with no problem afterwards, though I'll never get on that Free Fall ride again.

Will this turn out like the popsicle-stick skyscraper and 50-foot magnifying glass?

Six Flags is teh coolest

2004-05-12 02:13:58 PM
Let's wait until they are all set to go, then make sure they get into the seats where we've left copies of these articles:

21 injured in Six Flags coaster accident - August 6, 2001

Man killed in roller coaster accident at Disneyland - September 6, 2003

Man dies after falling off roller coaster - May 2, 2004

I'm scared of roller coasters, so I suppose this is for me!

2004-05-12 02:24:57 PM
I got over my fear when I was promised sex to get on a rollercoaster. Been loving them since.

2004-05-12 02:26:30 PM
I'm scared of people that are scared but not scared by the things that scare them because that would be just silly.

2004-05-12 02:26:58 PM
Pssht, I've been doing this all along: "Make guests more macho."

I'm far more afraid of Germans than I am of roller coasters.

2004-05-12 02:44:08 PM
We went to Cedar Point the day after the prom my senior year in high school. I had been on all of two roller coasters in my life when my friends said, "Let's go on the Magnum!"
We went up the hill of what was at the time the highest roller coaster at Cedar Point, if not the world.
"We're going up awful fast," the Prom Date said.
We stopped at the top. It was the longest five minutes of my life.
My underwear melted, but I haven't been afraid of heights since.

2004-05-12 03:08:27 PM
I am scared to death of heights which makes roller-coasters and nearly all theme-park rides just that more fun for me! I rode the Big Shot on top of the Stratosphere in Vegas and nearly shat myself! But I get much more of an adrenaline rush than anyone else, that's for sure.

2004-05-12 03:13:19 PM
for all those afraid of rollercoasters, just go buy a copy of roller coaster tycoon for like 15$ and just crash fake ones.

/roller coaster tycoon is the pacman of the modern age.

2004-05-12 03:15:15 PM
Steepest in the world, my butt. I can think of a dozen coasters that have 90-degree drops, and one that has a 95-degree drop (yes, 95 degrees). Expedition GeForce is 80-something.

People who are scared of coasters are dumb. If you're going to be scared of something, make it something that is actually likely to kill you, like your car.

2004-05-12 03:24:05 PM
What's the deal with Fabio?

Pfft... Save your Deutchmarks or whatever they're called
and come to Canada's Wonderland to get over your coaster
fears.

I used to be CoasterPhobic through most of my childhood
until my late teens on our Youth Group trip to Canada's Wonderland.

Some of the cute girls in my youth group that I wanted to "baptize" made it their mission to get me coaster-ready
by the end of the day, so they started me off in the Kids-Land section..

ON THE SCOOBY_DOO COASTER.. a choo-choo train with two turns and a little bump of a hill.

I wish I still had the capture-photo of my wailing like
a little girl in terror as we dropped all of 20 feet down the big hill.....

Next one: The DragonFire Loop-dee-Loop... that one made me the man I am today... and so did 2 of those hot youth group girls on the camping trip the next week....

;)

Rollercoaster Tycoon huh? I'll have to try it. I haven't been too impressed with other Tycoon games (Big Business, Zoo, Airport, etc)

SilentMattCanuck,
Are we posting fantasies now?

Roller Coaster Tycoon is pretty cool. Get the second one where it gives you a personal game editor, if you don't want to play the lame challenges.
